Zuby “Beast II”

Woo: Zuby Ejiofor didn't grab many national headlines this season, but the big man took a major leap at St. John's, making the All-Big East first team and also named the conference's most improved player. Although his team's season ended in the NCAA tournament's second round, Ejiofor's 23 points and 12 rebounds against Arkansas left a positive impression, showcasing his physicality and motor in the paint. Though undersized for a center, Ejiofor's overall impact on the game makes him an interesting role player candidate at the next level.

Ejiofor's rugged, all-out style raises his team's floor on a nightly basis, and the fact he recently turned 21 will work in his favor going into his senior season. Continuing to work on his frame, improve his mobility and hone his offensive decision-making could broaden his NBA appeal. It seems likely coach Rick Pitino will lean on him again, leaving room for a step forward in production that could bump his prospect status in a meaningful way.

He's so good. His switchability is truly absurd for a 5. I think he's the best defensive big man in the country and that is a wild thing to say for a guy that is not really a monster shot-blocker. If he could just take a dribble or two and stick a jumper when they play off him, it will really help. Hitting some treys wouldn't be bad either. I expect him to be able to do both.

We are really lucky to have a guy like him. He will be remembered as a fan favorite for decades.

He can fit any team in the NBA with his motor, rebounding, defense, switchability, etc. I'd be curious how he measures out. Its something that can really make or break his draft stock.

I like Precious Achiuwa and often wish the Knicks would use him a bit more off the bench. I also think he's a good comp to what Zuby could look like in the pros. In fact I think Zuby has the tools to be a bit better than Precious

He's the guy I also always think about with him. Precious measured in at 6'7.5" w/out shoes and 7'0" wingspan. His college stats, especially as a freshman, were pretty sick.

Another similar player, Paul Reed, was 6'8" and 7'2" wingspan.

I have no real idea what Zuby's would measure out as.

Random thought, but in this current landscape of college basketball, when is the next time we'll have a player stay even 3 years at St Johns like Zuby and Ayo. Makes me appreciate them even more.
I’ve had this conversation and said this exact thing over and over. Zuby being here for 3 years makes him a unicorn. Might be the closest we get to a star player sticking it out for 4 years since like Harrison.

It’s why Zuby will go down as an all time favorite for so many.

given both Zuby and Ayo Transferred in... think we might have a good shot at that again...

It's 4 year Varisty player... the DLo's / the Sir Dom's / The PG IV's.... those are the real unicorns...
