Volunteer assistants often fit zendon's profile. : former players for that school trying to break into coaching. It's a resume builder and gives them experience in coaching at this level. One year is typical. Good luck to Z and hope it is fruitful for him.
Is it possible that in light of the news about Slice Z asked about getting a paid position and was told no way? Or was Chris deciding he needed to move in other directions?
Seems possible.... but even then Dan Matic would deserve to get moved into assistant role given his previous experience over Zendon. And not sure Zendon is cut out for Director of Basketball Operations which would have a lot more administrative side to it.
I wouldn't mind Zendon getting an entry level paid assistants job here if we had an experienced staff clicking on all cylinders. However, with Mullin, newbie St. Jean, newbie Richmond already on board, this is not the place for him to begin as a paid assistant. Matt's the assistant with the most college experience, and I don't believe he is actually coaching.
