My concern with Brandin Knight is he has no head coaching experience. So we don't know his coaching style, if he knows X&O's, etc. Sure, he has 10 years experience as an assistant. But he's the type you'd ideally like to see succeed at a mid major first. Of course once he has that success, he could be on to a bigger opportunity.

i like lavin and it’s an interesting what if, but for whatever reason (cancer, dad, undermined) he just stopped recruiting. We had a whole team leaving and not much coming back in (good ol Felix). We were going back to square one that next season regardless.
Yes, and Lavin's work ethic was being questioned at the end.

A-Hole coached used the cancer against him in recruiting. All Class...

Lavin by now would have had us in the tournament constantly. His kids liked him, the media liked him, and he surrounded himself with winners, all until people drinking the Mullin kool aid took over. I am still surprised how much of a class act he is to the school post firing.
I know two things, Lavin had a lot of positives qualities for a NYC coach and two sheik is the real and no jabroni.

That's true of all coaches. If you have success a football school can always outbid us. And I agree with you we don't have a lot of information about his coaching style. We do know he has been successful recruiting at Rutgers which can't be easy. Also, I like a pg with high bb IQ as a coach. That being said, give Speedy a chance to say no first, if we move on from MA.

I was at MSG on December 26th 1983, when he beat Backlund.

I was 6 at the time, and was crying because he won, damn I hated that guy.
When Hogun beat him, I was so happy.

What about the time Superfly flew of the top of the steal cage and supposely head butted Moracco, that was something else.

Those were the days. I was 13 seeing Backlund lose to the f'ing Sheik.

Back then they had events at local high schools. Before he lost the title The wwf or whatever it was called had an event at glen cove high school. I forget who the early matches were. I think the Somoans or maybe it was the invaders but the headline match was Bob Backlund vs Iron Mike Sharpe. Was pretty cool seeing them in my High School gym

I wish the old Sunnyside Garden Arena was still around, they had some big boxing and wrestling matches there.
Heard there was massive brawl there once lol

I'd say that I wish I could have went there atleast once just to experience it, but then I'd be alot older then I am now. Wonder if anyone on here ever went there and got some stories from there.

Was demolished in 77, then it turned into some strip joint with a spinning floor, and now it's a wendy's

I saw the sheik at Gleason's Gym one time for a match back in the day.

I remember when he got pulled over with Hacksaw Jim Duggan for drugs. I was shocked because they were enemies in the ring. (How naive was I)

Sheik had a tough life with Drugs steroids etc. Typical story of the WWF in the 80's. They push these guys to take pretty much everything.

Dude is apparently still insanely strong. I would have put the belt on Iron Mike that night though if I were in charge of booking 😁

Sheik hated Hogun in real life, I remember maybe 10 years Shiek was on the radio doing an interview or whatever it was, someone asked about Hogan, and he was saying oh f Hogan and went on a rant about him.
You knew who were on steroids back then. What's his name, the painted face guy and would shake the ropes.
Scott Steiner took, with that bubble in his arm, looked like you could pop it with a needle.

Steiner's son will play for VaTech. He's not 275 lbs. though.

No joke though, Macho Man almost killing Ricky Steamboat in the Boston Garden was a traumatic experience for me as a kid.

“HE’S GONNA KILL HIM, GORILLA!” Legit crying, not gonna lie. Right up their with “The Walkaway” episode from The Incredible Hulk in terms of sadness.

Side note* I don’t know if any of you saw, but Leapin’ Lanny Poffo aka The Genius passed away. Joined his brother in that big ring in the sky. Always remember the frisbees.

Ultimate Warrior. Yeah he ended up a mess, physically, and died young as I recall as did so many. I think guys hated Hogan because without Rocky III he would have been just another guy he had no moves but he did have a presence. Long live Thunderlips.

I used to go to the garden once in a while to watch the WWF. It was great. All of 31st Street would be yelling "HOOOOOO" for Hacksaw. Unbelievable atmosphere.

Best moment was a steel cage match with Million Dollar Man vs someone and Virgil (MDM bodyguard) started climbing up the cage and some looney tune fan jumped the barrier and climbed after him and Virgil kick the ever loving poop out of him. So Much Fun!
