Yankees 2025 Season

I get why this is the case, but as a NY sports fan (but non yankee fan) I just feel like it is unfair to him.

People talk about legacy in sports like it is an even playing field, but it is not. it depends on the sport. You can't win the world series by yourself. You get a couple ABs a game, the ball gets hit to you maybe 2-3 times a game. The impact you are even allowed to make on the game is severely limited compared to other sports. To say Judge is some disappointment if he can't get it done, lets the entire organization off the hook to me. I get that is the burden a star has to take on their back, but Judge's career has been so insanely successful, he has a few playoff moments (last night really cemented this) and he is overall among the best players in New York baseball history. That can't be taken away from him no matter what.

I also look back to some of the yankee playoff failures during the Judge era, the ASStros cheated against them, The dodgers last year were simply a better all around team. I can't really hold those failures against him even though he has had some October struggles.

I get for NYY fans, with the 27 rings, you need to win to establish yourself firmly into Yankee lore. But what if Aaron Judge just happened to be on the Yankees in the early 2000s? He wins multiple rings because the team was an all around powerhouse. For Judge, the best yankee teams he has been on during his career, got cheated against by the Stros. That isn't his fault.

Maybe i view "legacy" differently because I have never personally seen one of my teams win a championship, but I feel like Judge is an all time great yankee regardless if they finish the job. But I respect the other perspective as well

Edit - and no, I am not going a pro Judge rant because I bet on him to hit a HR last night and he won me a lot of money. I actually feel this way ;)
Excellent analysis.

No one dislikes Idiot Boone more than I, but full transparency, he had a great game last night. Handled the bullpen especially well.

I don't know what The Kid is going to give us tonight, but I'm not expecting much. The Jays are not the Red Sux. I expect it will be a battle of the bullpens once again. Hopefully we prevail and somehow get this series back to Toronto.

I agree with you 100 percent, Jack.

As great as Arod was in 2009, he didn't do it alone. You need contributions from the entire lineup. You can carry one or two slumping sticks (the Yankees won it all in '96 with Tino Martinez getting 0 post-season RBIs), but that's about it.

In 96 it was a 6 innings game.
Then it was Mariano for 2 innings to Wetteland for 1. Or vice versa.

Right or wrong, the playoffs is where you earn your money.
Yes he's a great regular season player but he also has to do it in the post season.

That's why we loved Reggie and Jeter, they were so clutch in the playoffs.

Great pitching shuts down great hitting

With young pitchers it's all about confidence, and after the way he dominated Boston his confidence must be sky high.

We really need the kid the be a stopper, and shut Toronto down, could a pen that is not that good come up big on consecutive night?

Plus I'm getting sick to my stomach watching Toronto slap around our starter's

Needed our closer Bednar for a 5 out save last night hope if needed he can be effective tonight.

Wrt to Boone: It is my opinion that he should have pulled Rodon earlier. He needed 67 pitches to get through 2.1 innings of punishment. He didn't have anything of value last night.......6 hits, 2 walks and Vladdy's dinger.......Rodon overstayed his welcome again......67 pitches!!!

NO player in any team sport is uniquely responsible for winning and losing championships, period, end of story.
Not going to rant either but Judge is a great, great player, a truly generational player, (a term I abhor) whether he ever gets another post season hit or not. To think otherwise is just ridiculous IMO.
And I am no Yankee fan.
