I think this is the NCAA's way of trying to get ahead of student athletes being considered employees by the government and thus looking for an exemption from those things. The next step will be unions or some other organized collective bargaining to force a revenue sharing model.
These schools might be making less money in 15 years than prior to all of this realignment.
You're right. But, I suggest capping what the school can pay directly. Then let true NIL (not the current farce) and cheating be a differentiator for the big boys. It would kind of get us back to where we were and let the players cash in.A salary cap won't work because it wouldn't prevent players from making more through "NIL", same as in professional sports
Most kids would not have to pay full price. And 8 think someone here once said that even an kid on athletic scholarship, still applies for financial aid and the schools would get federal compensation. This all confuses me. What is a scholarship. For an out of state student at Michigan that would be about $70,000 per year. That sounds like a lot more then minimum wage.
That is a good point but a Pell Grant is about $7,500 max and an out of state student would not be eligible for state aid. Most kids would not have to pay full price.
