Earlier this afternoon at CA 66-56.
Both teams were previously 2-0 and SJU is now 3-0 with this afternoon's win. The final score was closer than the game was for the first 35 minutes. Perhaps the girls were tired as coach only had 7 scholarship players on his roster for this game as freshman pg Aliyyah Lewis was suspended by the staff for this game. I applaud Joey T for dealing with transgressions immediately notwithstanding that the consequences for the team could have been detrimental had they lost. He continues to set the right example. G-d willing it will not happen again and Aliyyah has learned her lesson.
Sophomore star Aliyah Handford had 19, by far her lowest output of the season to date.
Seniors Briana and Keylantra were also in double figures. Junior Amber Thompson had 9 points and 12 boards, for her best showing of the season, but the only game where she was really healthy.
As usual Ashley Perez contributed as did injured sophomore Sandra Obobi in the limited minutes she played with 4 points and 4 boards. Mallory Jones has certainly been making the most of her opportunity to play up front with all of the injuries and transfers Daneajah and Selina not being able to play for another month.
Keep it up ladies.

The announcers said Lewis didn't play for "personal reasons." What's the deal Aubie?

If that is what is being said I will have to respect it but she will be back next game. Nothing too serious.
