Wojo's first 90 days at Marquette

This thread is legendary...should be a sticky.
Someone should have dumped a bucket of ice water on Wojo before the technical! He was getting really hot after getting taken to the woodshed by Lavin...can't be easy.

He's much better at communicating by letter than verbally apparently. He might try slipping a note to the refs instead next time.

3-14! At least nobody will ever be able to say he won with Buzz's players...and there is nowhere to go but up.

I loved the announcers saying how "he needs to build a team". What? They've been pretty successful the last 15 year. He didn't inherit a doormat.

As for this thread, it's like Night of the Living Dead. It pulled all characters out of the woodwork. Well done by them

The announcers made a lot of excuses for him...no size and lack of depth...we played SIX guys and start a 6'5 PF! Four guys played 40 minutes! Wojo has a talented team: 6 top RSCI 100 players AND Matt Carlino...after #54 Deonte Burton transferred on Wojo.

Jajuan Johnson - RSCI #30
Duane Wilson - RSCI #59
Steve Taylor JOR - RSCI #82
Luke Fischer - RSCI #71
Sandy Cohen III - RSCI #75
Juan Andersn - RSCI #81

AND 5th year senior transfer, Matt Carlino who was all-conference for a tournament team at BYU!

Imagine if Lavin went 3-14 in conference with that amount of talent...holy crap.

After reading the "Next Coach?" thread (among others), I can easily imagine.

Look it is not easy taking over a team Most guys fail at it. That is why Lavin has a special place in his heart for that first team because they bought in to his concept.
Had Norm stayed that was another under achieving under 500 Big East team.

I don't disagree. What I do disagree with is the way things don't go both ways with the anti-Lavin crowd. Players get better on their own, when he wins there is a reason...either it's someone else's players or because he should with seniors and all those top 100 RSCI guys. Well, Wojo has all three and he's losing.

I think Wojo could end up being a good coach in time, but some posters glorified him from the start and vilified Lavin from a very early period. It's not fair. It's not easy to walk in an build a program. Lavin's first real class is just hitting their senior year. That is not a program...that is a team. A program can only be judged by the players that return year after year...that can be judged for the first time the next two seasons IMO. He lost Moe to the draft because he was too good too soon...he lost Polee because he recruited an absurd amount of talent...Garrett for pretty much the same reason...he lost Sampson too the draft...when you have been around a # of years and have the vets to rely on to mitigate those losses, they shouldn't be excuses....but coming from being left a 2-star PG and nobody else after your first year...ouch.
