WNBA

Agreed they are much different players which is why I emphasized (I think) the all around aspect of Bueckers game. Funny, I got kicked off the UConn Women’s Boneyard for criticizing Bueckers big time after the loss to Arizona in the FF semi game for not hunting shots in a game where UConn just could not get any offense going.
That was her freshman year, she was the Player of the Year, but she and Auriemma had clashed that whole season over her refusal to look for her own because he kept insisting there would come a game in the tourney where they would need her to do that.
She insisted she didn’t play that way and refused. But she learned a lot and by her senior year she had learned to take over when need be and they won the NC going away.
Ironically, the closest game they had in the tournament by far was USC the game after JuJu Watkins was hurt and couldn’t play.
Watkins is another sensational player. Going to be fun when she's in the league next year also.

Angel Reese, hoo boy. I have tried to give her the benefit of the doubt on character, and she can play. But throwing teammates under the bus, getting suspended for a half and then saying you can't play the second half because of your "back" is just no bueno. Almost as though she is taking a page from the Jimmy Butler "how to get traded" manual. But somehow with even less finesse than Butler (and I didn't think that was even possible).

If that is not one of your goofs, my response is “Whatever”; I have had him on Ignore here forever, with short removals and almost instantaneous reversals back to Ignore.
This is truly fascinating. What would Marillac have to do to get off your ignore list and what would put him back on ?

In other news related to this thread:

The Liberty, who were basically an all-star team that never gelled due to injuries and insist on a finesse style, got beat by what is essentially the bruisers of the Connecticut Sun transplanted to Phoenix. Alyssa Thomas is the definition of a gamer.

And the Fever, with basically half their team on the DL including somebody named Clark, upset Atlanta. Aliyah Boston is terrific, Kelsey Mitchell is showing people how it's done, and Lexi Hull is a LMF favorite - a non-stop pest who you love if she's on your team and hate if she's on the other one.

The Las Vegas Aces are taking the position that they're always a threat because they have Aja Wilson and you don't.

And the Lynx will probably win it all behind the do-everything, be-everything player that is Napheesa Collier.

I think you are a swell guy. And to prove it, I just read your entire post about the WNBA, which is the most I have ever read about that league since its inception.

"The search for Brondello’s replacement is on. Several sources said that the Liberty are targeting a coach with NBA experience.

Kolb said the team has a “very clear vision” of what they’re looking for in a new coach."

If the Liberty hire Thibs, I'll become a full season ticket holder. 🤣

I was not a huge fan of Brondello's coaching. She wanted to coach a finesse, spread offense and shoot 3s. This with a roster with a ton of size and in a league where teams will be physical and ugly it up. Team was really set back by injuries this year but I'm not sure another coach wouldn't be an improvement on her with the same roster.

Cheryl Reeve and Stefanie White are absolute killers as coaches. Thibs would be a fascinating hire though!

Cheryl Reeve went full Bobby Knight last night. Almost George Brett pine tar bat level.

I don't happen to agree with her overall on the play in question, the ball was already loose and the contact was after and incidental.

But I fully agree with her (as almost everyone has said on this thread) that in general the league needs to cut down the physicality. Impossible for the refs when the standard is "let almost everything go."

And sucks that Collier, who is arguably the best and most valuable player in the league, is hurt. But mad respect for the Phoenix Sun (Connecticut Sun transplants to Phoenix). Off the charts grit, toughness, clutch genes. Would love to see AT win one.
