Not surprising to come out flat for a cupcake game coming off a tough loss and week long break.

Another game where you don't really learn much against clearly inferior opponents. Darling has looked solid but this is the level of competition he dominated against last year. Need to see him do it against good competition to make sure he isn't inflicted with Wilcher Syndrome.

Jackson playing this poorly against a team this bad is very concerning.
Whatever “Wilcher Syndrome” is, Darling doesn’t have it.

Wilcher Syndrome is when you play well against mediocre and/or bad opponents but are generally terrible against good competition.

TBD on if Darling has that or not. He hasn't played any good competition with us yet. I hope you're right

Things I notice about Darling which have nothing to do with competition IMO is court vision and his passing and how quickly he gets ride of the ball. Things like that are natural for some IMO
I like the way he prods the defense. He doesn’t have to rush in recklessly. He can take a couple dribbles to make the defense react, see what’s available, and either act on that or pull it back out to try something else. We haven’t had that under Pitino.

He’s getting in the lane all year. That’s clear already. He’s really gotta start hitting some shots, though.

I want Sellers living in the right corner and Sanon or Jackson living on the right wing for him to kick to.

What shows you how good this SJU team can be was literally how quickly they turned a single digit game into a 30 point lead.

It was a 5 pt game at halftime at 39-34 and with 13 minutes left in the game it was 66-36, just your average 27-2 run after halftime.
At halftime when up 5, I was saying to myself "well I guess they're not going to cover the 29.5pnts spread, I was working so could watch the whole game, but put it on everytim I had a chance to.
Seen they started the half on a 22-2 run and they were up 27pnts.

I just laughed, loved being wrong there.

Rick said Lefty was going to start! :ROFLMAO:

Rick's ability to break down a team is really extraordinary. He is unique in that sense. He makes it sound so simple.

You don't have to sit in on a film session with him to see how he can break a team down. And then he will explain how he expects his team to carry out the game plan.

This was an interview he did with Raftery after a win over Marquette in 2009. Marquette had those 3 guards-James, McNeal and Matthews.

Raftery asked him about guarding Marquette's guards and Rick said he wanted to pressure them and said he played zone and then "swiiched to man to man when the ball went inside..we just did not want to guard all of their pick and rolls..."

He is just unique with that type analysis...
