Just wondering whether MSG will continue the contract with St. John's and even the Big East Tournament once most of the football schools depart.

You realize that losing MSG to even Barclays would probably bury St Johns Basketball
If we make our own basketball conference with the best teams left, then I say yes. If we stay here as teams like Tulane, UCF, SMU, etc. come in then I'd say no. If we pluck a few of the top A10 teams then I think we get Barclays at the very least. If somehow Barclays doesn't want us even after raiding the best A10 teams, then we have to make major upgrades to CA and that becomes our permanent home. I honestly wouldn't mind the Barclays at this point...beggars can't be choosers. Once the A10 is depleted there will be 2 top eastern basketball conferences: the ACC and the Big East/New conference with Xavier, Butler, and rest of big east. 2 conferences and 2 venues: MSG and Barclays. I think we are ok there.

If we end up playing at Barclays we are buried? Absolutely not. Think of all the arenas in the nation basketball teams play in. Barclays would have to be a top 5 venue if not top 3. There are subway connections as well as LIRR connections so it's easily accessible via public transportation just like MSG, and it's quickly getting a reputation for being a very nice arena. It's brand new and would be a symbolic new fresh start for SJ as Lavin brings us to relevancy again. MSG is great don't get me wrong and I still prefer it, but if we have to play at Barclays I won't be mad.
All the hoop schools play in public arenas.
All the hoop schools play in public arenas.
And how many of those arenas are brand new costing $1 billion in the greatest city in the world? You can't just say all public arenas are the same...look at the Times Warner Arena that Siena plays at...nothing special about it just typical. The Barclays Center is gorgeous with the old school woodwork and it's brand new. I really think that in 50 years Barclays will be seen as a historic venue.

Just pointing this out because I used to work there, but the Times Union Center is a huge advantage for Siena. No other MAAC teams home arena comes anywhere close to theirs.

Garden is the preference, but Barclays is nicer and more classy IMO. My point is that even if we somehow lose MSG, we get Barclays and that's a good deal. MSG still has way more history obviously but I think in 50 years or so Barclays will be seen as a top tier Arena.
The A-10 tournament is there in March. Hopefully the BE basketball schools can combine with the A-10.Garden is the preference, but Barclays is nicer and more classy IMO. It's already a top tier arena, all it's missing is the history, and that will take a significant period of time to develop.

Also Lavin was spotted months ago around summertime having dinner with the Barclay's CEO so that can always help.
As a season ticket, tonights game was a great showing by our guys. We make it back through 2 great recruiting classes and we have the BE collapse around us. Amazing
I hope we move quick

As long as we get 1 of the 2 main venues to showcase our stuff: MSG/Barclays and we stay in a conference with teams like G'Town, Nova, Marquette, SH, Prov, DePaul, Butler, Xavier, Memphis, Temple, etc. I really think we will be fine and be considered a major conference still.
