Obviously nobody may know for sure at this point, but with him being eligible to begin playing very soon, do you think he will start from day one?

You never know with Lavin and starting lineups! I thought for sure he wouldn't, but Phil has been slumping a bit of late. I still love Phil, but the offense needs a spark. I really think we see a lot of three guard lineups..

being touted as a good point guard i believe he will as we currently don't have a true point guard, both D'angelo an Phill are SG's

Yes... he is our only true point. I love Green's game but it's becoming pretty clear he is a combo guard at best.

Agreed but Lav will give him benefit of the doubt and give Branch a couple games to get sea legs. That's why I think Cincy which would be Branch's 3rd game.

We need jamal to defend.penetrate and dish thats what he does so he should start Will make evryone better

Ironically, one of Jamal's better games for the Aggies last year was against SJU. Played 24 mins off the bench, 7 points (one trey), 5 rebounds, 2 assists. Offset by 5 turnovers though...

Either way, look forward to his contributions in BE play.

I think Branch can get Phil going again...He'll be able to play off the ball and get some looks and hopefully a few of his signature tears drops

Branch might not start the first day he can but he will get good minutes. He has been practicing with the team for a year and you know he spent time in the gym working on his skills. So I wouldn't be surprised if Branch starts most of Big East games and will be a terrific floor general. Can't wait to see what he can do.

I don't know if he will strt, but he will contribute key minutes. The old saying, it's not who starts, but who finishes, is all I care about.

I don't know much about Branch other than that he was a one time top 100 recruit. Should we expect that he's on the level of an Omar Cook or Erick Barkley or should we expect less? Has anyone seen much of this guy other than youtube?

Expect less and hope for more. You have to be a major, major talent to walk on the floor after not playing much competitive ball since high school and be able to have an immediate impact. Barkley was one of the top two or three point guards SJU ever had. Omar, if he stayed, would be right there too. I'm just looking forward to having a PG that is playing his true position. His reported strength is defense, so that should pay quicker dividends. The more Phil struggles with consistency, the more minutes Branch will see, ready or not.

Branch should bring some stability to our offense out there. He's a big guard and good passer. Not super speedy but athletic enough with good handle and vision. Very different from anything we have out there right now. Phil's Greene has made huge strides out there, and I love the kid and his game. Im ready to conced that Phil's still really a scoring combo guard though like a Ryan Boatright. Phil certainly capable of playing the point and doing a good job but isn't really a True PG. Whether Branch starts or not is immaterial. He will be a valuable addition.

Omar Cook was a MCAA and Erick was a 20 year old freshman. Do not expet Jamal to be on the same talent level. Hopefully we will be very surprised.

He played a semester for Texas AM and had an additional year to practice w our staff. Hes not coming in as a Fr.
