Why do you need to be cheered up?

Haven't you heard?? We just squeaked one out vs the mighty Lehigh Thank god the game is over.. I couldn't stand to look at #42 ( knutson? ) one second longer with that crooked headband.

Maybe because we are essentially a 6 man team and need players and from reports are not expected to sign anyone until the spring. That being said I fully trust that coach Lavs will get the job done on the recruiting trails.
We're fine. With Pelle back in the fold for 12 and Amir for December. The focus will be Gathers, Jakarr Obekpa and whoever else might pop up for 12. Remember kids don't sign LOI's for some schools. Coaches are fired, kids see new opportunities and change their lists after the early signing period. Heck it might even be a 13 kid who starts the ball rolling again.
I for one am not concerned right now.
It seems Pelle isn't exactly back in the fold at the moment. The only one we may can look forward to is Garrett. I'm not worried either, as I feel this staff will beat the pavement and get a recommitment or land another solid talent.

Not worried about Pelle.
Wouldn't mind seeing a true PG added to the list of targets but besides that agree per Moose's post that there's little need for alarm. If the staff can sign even 1 of the three key big men targets plus Pelle shows up next year's team will be in good shape and 13/14 too.

Where is his LOI? Where is Garrett's? Do we have them yet? Assistant coaches should have been working overtime on Gathers to clear the Lavin issue. 2012 is no different than 2011-----we have six scholarships available and only one early commit.

Agree Austour. We have a great base. We can now work on filling specific needs like height up front, a more pure PG to replace Lindsey and another shooter possibly.
Seriously, it's been 24 hours since the signing period started. However I must point out that the staff has been busy since Midnight Monday on a MW3 marathon that they anticipate will keep them busy until some time next week at the earliest. (roll eyes)
This is where you're wrong. I'm pretty sure it's the end of the world.
But seriously . . .
Newsflash. On September 1 STJ had exactly 3 schollies to give for 2012/13. 7 ships to the guys on campus now and 3 to the guys who didn't make it. They had commitments for two of them (Gathers and Wood) and had all but put the third is a safe deposit box for Kyle Anderson all summer. Until the week of September 16 THERE WERE NO FREAKING SCHOLLIES TO GIVE. Now 8 weeks later the sky is falling. The events of that week put STJ in a difficult position no doubt but to expect that the staff should have a bunch of top guys who were lined up to take those rides that now might be available so late in the process is laughable and to chastise the staff over it is childish.
So forgive those of us who believe that the present approach of going after the low hanging fruit, the three guys who despite the recent events still seem to be STJ leans, is likely the one that will produce the best results. These guys are still amongst the top available recruits. I know a bunch of posters think the staff can just jump in and take the lead on guys like Bennett, Amile and Savon despite each of them having somewhere between no interest and little interest in STJ. That's fantasy though I'm pretty sure that a Shabazz Muhammad commitment to STJ is days away.
Given that situation the best course of action is to work hard to get the 3-4 top 100 guys that already have a passing interest (read: previous commitment) in STJ to stay the course, recommit and come in Dec or Sept. None of them have ruled out STJ, unlike the majority of the remaining available top 100 players. Decent rotation guys, late risers and probably some good Jucos will be available in the spring. For now the only potential starters to focus on are these guys, and Obekpa.
