Who Forgot To Pick Up This Guy?

I just remembering that one scout immediately declared post NBA that Olajuwon would be a total bust because he had zero lateral movement and would be stopped dead in his tracks by NBA defenders. I also remember Pitt's Jerome Lane being touted as the next Barkley, and Scott May of the undefeated Indiana team as a can't miss future NBA All-star. You just never know.
Just further proof that the college game and the NBA are different animals. Great college players don't always have the skills to translate to the NBA. Another example....Walter Berry.

I've got a funny feeling we're going to get scores of posts naming college stars who didn't make a successful transition to the NBA. :(

I seem to remember Walter while playing for the Spurs averaging around 27 pts per game in a 3 game playoff series with the Lakers. Don't know why he didn't have a longer more successful NBA career although he had a long profitable career overseas from what I understand. My theory and I am not saying I am right was that his game being more of an inside one he did not want to mix it up with the behemoths of the NBA on a nightly basis.

Agree. Walter averaged 14 ppg his short NBA career.

Could be. He also seriously clashed with Brown.

So did a lot of people, before and after him. Many of them went on to long and successful NBA careers. It had to be something else in addition to that.
