Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we have our pick of NYC point guards of Omar Cook, Andre Barrett and Taliek Brown and we took Cook?

Lamar Odom was never coming to SJU.
He had no grades and had to "settle" for Jim Harrick and URI. We never had a shot.

Claxton was locked up early by Hofstra and no big schools showed interest until very late in his senior season and he was not un-commiting (we didnt pursue him anyway).

Green was a tough one - that was the first very good local kid that Norm got beaten on.

I remember us losing out on Green, that brought back memories.

Not sure we had our pick. Always remember Barrett was going to Hall and Brown to UCONN. Cook between UNC and us.

Not sure we had our pick. Always remember Barrett was going to Hall and Brown to UCONN. Cook between UNC and us.

Wouldn't have gotten any of them if UNC hadn't signed Morrison and Boone when they got tired waiting for Omar to pull his finger out.

That's sounds more like it than the other scenario that was posted a few days ago. Regardless if it was Payton or some other recruit who never went on to be a star, it was not handled well by St. John's.
