Where are they now: James Scott

In the 1977 Street & Smith's writeup on the REDMEN, they started by pointing out how St. John"s had two impact transfer Reggie Carter and BernieRencher and then claimed as good as they might be the prize was Wayne McCoy.

I was estatic(sic) Street & Smith had resumed publishing a yearly college basketball magazine after having been missing for five or six years and Wayne McKoy was sure to lead SJU to an NCAA championship. either this year or nexy year.

Marcus Broadnax is close to the list. A 40ppg scorer from Florida who convinced Looie we didn't need Gary Payton.

Next to not getting Lew Alcindor this was the biggest blunder by Looie recruiting wise.

McKoy was perhaps the laziest high profiled recruit that we ever had. He believed every projection of NBA ever uttered, and refused to participate in conditioning drills during SJU practice, such as running stairs. When criticized by a teammate for not working at improving in practice, McKoy commented, "I'll do that at the next level." Of course, as an under sized center who never dominated in college, there was not a next level for Wayne.
