When you think you have hit rock bottom

And the Hot Rock was a pretty good movie. I recall seeing it as a kid in a double feature with Kelly's Heroes.

PS Maher posting through his phone has been adventure. I'm not sure if we can blame his inaccurate fingers or the Pisco Sours.

Nah it’s the phone and I need glasses. I miss my laptop

Have any of Pitino hiring advocates watched him coach this season?

I have. The soon to be 71 year old Pitino does not look quite as slick as they remember him in bygone years, and ….. no, Pitino’s second place Iona team is not burning up the MAAC as many predicted, and Iona failed to qualify for the NCAA tournament last year. He will have a difficult time reaching the NCAA again this season.

The Pitino groupies have likely not seen Pitino sit seemingly clueless on the Iona bench as his Iona team got drilled by Siena last week, and previously in early January by Quinnipiac.

You can catch all the MAAC games on ESPN+ if you have a subscription.

We get it. You don't like Pitino.

Do you have someone else in mind? Or do we buy another lotto ticket and hope in 3-4 years we're on a better track. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

So you are suggesting we try something different and keep a coach for 8–10 years? 😀

I know you aren’t suggesting that.

As a self appointed “Pitino Groupie”, I admittedly not watched many Iona games.

But since his his hiring, Iona made the tournament in his first year, 2020, and then last year rolled to a 17-3 conference record, but lost on a last second shot in the MAAC tournament quarterfinals. In a one a done conference, that was it. But they were rewarded for their great regular season with an NIT invite.

This season they are 15-7 (8-3 in conference). Admittedly they should be better, but would you be surprised if Iona goes on a roll and ultimately wins the conference tournament?

We can only pray to St. John himself for similar results here.

I would like to pay attention more, but this SJU season has sapped all the joy of the college basketball season (again).

As of right now Iona would be favored on a neutral court over any other team in New York State including St John’s and Syracuse.

Yes, he lost to Siena and Quinnipiac. Please let us know which coach you’d like for us to hire that is currently undefeated or was undefeated in his most recent season of coaching

A one armed Pitino with no eyesight and multiple concussions would be a tremendous upgrade over Mr. Anderson. If Coach Pitino had a Big East school behind him for recruiting, Im sure the level of high school recruits would increase ten fold over what this faker has brought in as well.

May be way off as I don't follow Iona, but thought I read his team got hit with injuries on a few of their starters. If true might explain some of the losses.

In October it was reported that Pitino's discussions with Iona on a long term contract extension didn't work out. Have to wonder if his love of coaching for below market value is taking it's toll. I'm sure being back in the media spotlight at a BE program will rejuvenate him just fine. Hopefully it's not in DC or my Hoya cousin will be insufferable.
