My kid (SJU '06 Sports Management) got a good education, a degree, an internship, a great job, and most recently - an Emmy.

 Good article JSJ!

It also goes to the heart of what I often notice with kids of college age these days. Many would prefer to drive and take a loan out on a $25,000 car than spend $5,000 on a good used car. I drove a 1957 Olds to SJ in my undergrad days. Go to some schools and count the number of BMW's, Lexus, Acuras and SUV's under 5 years old.

'Notwithstanding the stock horror stories about the kid who leaves campus owing hundreds of thousands, however, the average college debt load is about the price of a new Toyota Prius—$28,100"

I drove a 1961 Pontiac Tempest (which I bought for $250 in 1971). It literally fell apart (the axle broke!!) a month after graduation. Think I got my money's worth !
