What's the word on Mussini ?

Gee, I like to know if anyone knows if he is injured and if so what his injury status.

Someone mentioned he had an infection prior to the Cuse game and that is why he was out

honestly i don't want to hear that. I hate hearing all the transfer talk. What happened to "we are a close family" on this team. I actually think Mussini's game has improved greatly with Ponds and LoVett at the point. When Moose is hot that frees up the rest of the perimeter .

Hot is an interesting characterization. This year Missini was 5-6 versus Bethune, 4-7 versus Csun, 4-6 versus Fordham, and 3 of 4 Tulane. On the one hand those were four wins. On the other those teams are all atrocious.

He's 28 of 58 on the year from three, 49 percent, very nice. Against those four teams he's 16 of 23, 70 percent. Against the 8 teams that don't stink he's 12 of 35, 34 percent. That might be a coincidence but I don't think so. Conclusion: he's the most overrated Saint John's player since floor slapping dope Matt Brust.

That said, transfers interrupt continuity, which is bad. On the other hand recruiting over over matched players is good and one way to get better quickly.
disagree totally. Moose played out of position last year. Ill take a guy hitting mid 40% on 3s. Short memory on lack of shooting we've had on this team. Brust also ignited the defense, something of an intangible you can't put a value on. Mussini has said and done all the right things since being here, i wouldn't want him a kid like hime to leave. By the end of the year, if we run a 3 guard offense he will be an important tool.

teams that win in the dance are teams with guard depth that can shoot. Moose should be a quality 4 yr player for us.

Braziller can see Yakwe and him going if no improvement.[/quote]

Ironic as the teams lack of improvement can be directly tied to his lack of improvement.

We have three guards and four players shooting > 40 percent from three and all of them bring something else to the table, as opposed to Missini, who's an oompah loompah who couldn't dover a pillar. Next year with Simon he'd be the fifth guard. I have no problem with him being the fifth guard. If he's anything more than that we're in deep doo doo.

We all have different memories of our favorite players. Here's my favorite Brust story:

"One [camp invite] for the Bulls was a tough but marginally talented kid from St. John’s, Matt Brust. Brust was a wide-body guy with a crew cut who resembled a Marine drill sergeant and played that way.

Brust pretty quickly figured with Armstrong, John Paxson, and Craig Hodges at guard, his position, he wasn’t going to make the team. So he decided to make a name. He was playing physically and one day started going after Jordan, eventually taking out Jordan as Jordan was about to dunk. Jordan landed hard and the medical staff came running.

Jordan got back up in a few minutes an insisted the scrimmage continue [,,,] When the scrimmage got going again ... Jordan stripped the ball while defending Brust and ran out ahead to dunk. But as Jordan got to the basket he slowed down for Brust to catch up. As Brust went up to take out Jordan again, Jordan switched the ball to his left hand and leaned back and smashed Brust in the face with his right elbow. Brust went down and he was out—and released the next day as well."

Contrary to my OP, don't see a point in Matt going hard after the USF kid, or the kid having an interest in coming here, unless there's a strong possibility that Lovett and/or Ponds goes. Don't see the kid coming here to share time with those 2.

I believe Brust was a college football player also, and played basketball like he was a football player. Hard nosed player, but not one of my favorites.

I don't know if any of you remember playing basketball in Alumni Hall during open gym time, which was most of the day I remember. The baseball team played a lot of bball, but many of them were notorious hackers and if you took the ball to the hoop, you'd likely get shoved grabbed or awkwardly hacked in a way that could hurt you.
