What Is Your "Pencil the Date" Game?

With the start of practice less than a month away, who are people here most looking forward to seeing, if you had to pick one game? Is it the season opener against Wisconsin, is it the traitors from the north Syracuse game, revenge match up vs San Francisco, or one of the new kids on the block, Xavier, Creighton or Butler? Mine is easy, Dec 15, if you have to ask who the opponent is you don't belong on this forum. :p

The opener is a statement game. A win sets the tone nationwide for this team and tells me that the staff took full advantage of the extra team time they were afforded and got the players to understand and buy in.

The best way for me to answer would be this way even if it is a cheap way out:

"Black Sharpie the Date Game" -- Syracuse, 12/15/13 -- No comment needed. Want this game really badly. The primal screams that would be released from us fans would shake the Garden to its core..

"Ball Point Pen the Date Game" -- @ Xavier, 12/31/13 -- It would be a great to launch conference play with a win in a tough road game.

"Pencil the Date Game" -- Seton Hall 1/23/14 -- With the sting of the Whitehead recruitment still hurting, a thorough annihilation of Seton Hall would be a not-so-guilty-pleasure.

I ,too pick the SU game. I hate the fact that they dominate MSG and at the same time kick our butt. Although they will still be favored ,we have a good shot of beating them this year. The game will also be a good barometer for evaluating our team.

I could go along with those games.

Paul also came up with a good one, per our opener.

Definitely the Traitors form the Tundra. Nothing would make me happier than to beat them. It still pains me when DJ went down and we lost the BET game to them.

I hate getting all emotionally worked up about a game, especially against a team that in preseason rankings, is ranked higher - been there done that.

it will be a don't miss game, but almost always is. It's a nothing to lose game, unless we get blown out. Play them close and lose, and we proved something, beat them its a big statement, crush them and it's huge. I will take 2,3, and 4 - and say we are supposed to lose to SU right now, but three and four would be great.

Love to see that all the die hard fans will be at the cuse game when most people sell their tickets to cuse fans.

I will as always be at the SU game wearing as much red as possible. I was at the game last year at the dome, so I will definitely be at the game at the garden.

The timing just feels right. For so many years we just did not have anywhere near the amount of horses to take down Cuse. It was David vs. Goliath. Lavin recruited his butt off and I think it's time it paid dividends in the form of a big blow to Cuse beating them at the Garden. We are very talented AND deep. When's the last time we could truly say that? If we win it will absolutely be one of the best memories of the past decade if not more for SJU. It will make the rivalry that much more fun to prove to Cuse that it won't be a walk in the park anymore...they have to win it the old fashioned way.

If I could have 1 gift all year for a single game it would be to beat the snot out of Cuse like we did Duke a few years back with Hardy and Co. Nothing forces you into the spotlight like spanking a blue blood.

For me, they all are. I go to the games to see St. John's play, not the opponent.

Cool doubleheader though, the day before the Super Bowl, if I must name one.

All the ones mentioned are good, but it's hard to focus on just one (the next one always feels like a big one). I would circle them in the order we play them. The big one early is Wisconsin, then Cuse and then Gtown at home. All good measuring sticks and ones I really want us to get.
