I don't think core values have anything to do with it. Kids go to college to hopefully wind up making money playing basketball. They receive nothing resembling an education because they either aren't interested or don't have the time to take advantage of the "opportunity." Then some self serving coach recruits over them or decides they aren't as good as he thought when he swindled them initially and they either transfer or give up their dream. The whole system is so exploitative it's a shame that so many "institutions of higher learning" buy into it for the sake of a buck. I root for kids who transfer because it's usually for a good reason and because they have the chops to actually buck the system. And why is it that they have to wait a season if they've kept up their end of the academic bargain? To prevent programs from gaining an unfair advantage? Well, guess what - there are plenty who have achieved that despite the so called rules. I've always felt the kids deserved to be compensated for the millions they generate but it'll never happen as long as the sham NCAA organization stays unchecked. Hey, professionals are now in the olympics and nobody died except maybe the IOC. I just wish the BS would end under a much more fair and clean system.
