What if scenario

Just curious what scenario people think is the better scenario.

So we lost to Michigan. Game is done and its time to move on.

We NEED to win in Charleston at least 2 games now and this first one becomes a must win to avoid the loser's bracket route.

But
Would you feel better to lose the Michigan game and go 3-0 in Charleston?
Or would you rather a win vs Michigan and go 2-1 in Charleston?

This is just a what if scenario. We can go 3-0 or 0-3 which would be dare I say I dont know if this site could handle that. Was just curious about the above what if.

I'll play...

I personally think Michigan is Good. NCAA Tourney good- so would take that Victory cause that will look real nice come March (not to mention how rockin the Garden would have been.... :(

However- 3-0 in Charleston most likely means we beat Houston... and Houston is GOOOD Good....

Since I was at MSG... my vote would be W vs Mich and 2-1 in Charleston.

Sadly... I think this team goes 1-2 in Charleston...

I as well would have rathered a win vs Michigan and the excitement that win would have generated and 2-1 through winners bracket. But if 3-0 with loss to Michigan scenario happened including a Houston win that is probably better on the resume.

a win over Houston on a neutral court would probably be our biggest non conf win since Shamorie slapped Marvin Bagley and Duke around so I will take that

(and even though that Duke win was exciting, we were going nowhere that year which took some hype out of it)

Although I gotta be real, based on what i saw from our attempts to guard Dug McDaniel, I have no clue how we’re gonna stop Houston. Their backcourt of Damian Dunn and LJ Cryer (Temple and Baylor transfers) is absolutely ridiculous.

Though some may remember we shut down Damian Dunn in a win over temple last year

I would have rather beat Michigan at the garden. That was a chance to create a first impression with a newly energized fan base, get ticket sales rolling, and people excited for the game.

Obviously, if the team learned from Michigan and I'm reading Zach articles saying that the Michigan game turned around the season, I won't complain.

This is a great point. Houston win would be better for the resume, Michigan win would have been better for the capitalizing on the hype the program has been getting

Just so he is remembered , Ponds was that good from Freshman year onward . Never had much of a support Cast .

I think he had 42 that game against Duke . One of my favorite players of the last decade .

He was so awesome. He was the star of the team when I was a student there. My favorite in person performances from him had to be the Marquette game at CA (he murdered them, think he had like 40 that game).

Then the VCU game at Barclays. Talk about putting the team on your back.

What was always so impressive about Shamorie was he really didn't have the quickness and athleticism needed to be a superstar guard. But he was still a superstar anyway off of pure skill and finesse. That kid could get himself a look whenever he wanted.

Maybe I am underrating his athleticism because I am now remembering that steal he had in OT @Georgetown when he just levitated to grab a pass out of thin air

That play was awesome. It was my avatar for this site and I just noticed my pic is gone. Have to find it again.

Frankly, I think we're gonna play our way into the championship game and finish up at 2-1. If it's against Houston, we look like we belong, and lose then that'll suffice. If we get plastered by Houston then I'll find that to be disappointing.

I also don't care how we win 3 games in Charleston, as long as we get those wins. If Houston gets upset along the way, then so be it. Hell! I'm sort of hoping they get upset as long as we continue to win on our way to the title game.

Winning the Charleston Classic could do wonders for team confidence and morale.

3-0 in Charleston NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.

First of all that Michigan team looks like they will be ranked very soon, that’s not a bad loss by any stretch. Going 3-0 in Charleston is wins over N Texas, Probably LSU and Houston who is top 10. Give me that all day. Battle tested after this week with 3 wins…I’ll sign in blood

I'm gonna go with Dayton over LSU, so I think we'll be playing Dayton. But I've been wrong before.

Regardless, 3-0 in the low country (that's the termed region for Charleston and surrounding cities and towns).

Has to use zone to hide Dingle/Dunlap and others - plus keeping Joel by the rim...

It seems obvious... what am i missing?
You think you know better than RICK PITINO???????

Im just kidding lol I am just laughing to myself cause that is what everyone kept saying to those who were a little disappointed with some of the roster construction this offseason.

People were acting like we couldn't question a single move made by the staff in regards to roster construction, but then the season starts and everyone inevitably starts second guessing the coaches in game decisions.

It was a really a whole spring of

Thing 1: "I like Posh lets keep Posh"
Thing 2: "YOU THINK PITINO DOESNT KNOW WHAT HES DOING? SIT DOWN AND LET HIM WORK"

Being at the MI game it would have been great to win that one; the place would have been electric after the fireshow during introductions. Plus it would have set the tone for the casual fans that just maybe the hype is correct and that St. John's is really back.

Having said that, the L might be source of motivation and a wake-up call not to read press clippings.

I see 2-1 in Charleston, but who really knows this early in the season with injuries and so many new faces. New to us, but also new to each other. We can go 0-3 there and still be humming in February when it matters most. By then, players adjust to each other and coaches adjust to their players and rotations get set. Slow starts don't always end in slow finishes. [Not that I am hoping for a slow start.]

I think I would have rather had the win against Michigan. That game just meant so much to program in my opinion. Big game against a Big 10 tournament quality team, Pitino’s first game at the Garden, a 14,000+ crowd, that game could have really launched this Pitino era program with a win. To lose the way we did was really disheartening.
