What did he say that caused coach Keady to jump out of his seat and start to come on to the court . my money would have been on coach, an ex K State football player

Yes finally Keady woke up. Welcome to the Big East coach

When in the game?

Bowen was the G'town thug who mouthed off to the bench after he hit a short jumper.

I wouldn't consider someone a "thug" for saying something after they make a basket. A little offensive if you ask me, you're not the only one guilty of that labeling on this site.

As highlighted with the recent Richard Sherman controversy, the word thug is thrown around way too much in sports.

I was close enough to notice the big commotion, but frankly all i saw the guy from G Town do, was put his face in our bench and say something like “take that”, not sure what got people so riled up, so I guess it was more that “take that”.

Keady was probably just trying to get the troops riled up! He was an NFL drafted player after all...old habits die hard. Talk about a guy that will get a long leash from the refs though!!! How much of a douche would you have to be the first ref in like 20 years to ring up a 70 year old LEGEND with a tech.

FWIW, nobody can convince me that the Obekpa elbow wasn't intentional. I have no problems with it--I kinda like it actually-- but let's not act like he didn't drop the hammer on that loudmouth on accident. It was quite an impact too.

Keady was not trying to rile the troops up. We were already riled up putting 3 touchdowns up on Gtown. The kid said something and I've never seen Keady jump up so fast and do a beeline for half court. At the next stoppage Rico had to pull Keady from talking to ref Michael Stephens. Lav did talk to him and Stephens then went to talk to JT3.

Who knows...it's St. John's-Gtown and there is a certain toughness factor that is needed. I'm not saying it was all for show, Keady is tough as nails, but it wouldn't surprise me if he took it a little further to show our guys the kind of attitude they needed. Gtown players have arms that are twice as big as our guys across the board--it's pretty impressive we out-rebounded them.

Keady getting riled so quickly probably had something to do with some magic words being uttered. Back in 86, Mets fans remember Eric Davis of the Reds sliding hard into third and being tagged out, saying something to Ray Knight, and in about half a second getting dropped by a lightning quick short right by Knight, an ex-boxer. When Knight was asked after the game what Davis had said, Knight replied, "I'm not quite sure, but he began with, 'You mother-', so before he could finish the sentence, I hit him. Nobody talks about my mother".

Beast is probably right, the guy definitely didn’t say “take that”, it was, in all likelihood, a compound word, I love compound words, so expressive.

I'm just curious if it was a string of obscenities, if Thompson would have gotten to the bottom of it and have him apologize to Keady. Keady is a big boy and knows things are said in the heat of the moment, but if the kid said something that set Keady off, an apology would be the classy thing to do. Something we usually don't' associate with Thompson and Georgetown.

I agree whole heartedly with Beast . Georgetown is a Jesuit school and it would be the Ignatian thing for them to get that kid to apologize to coach Keady .

I don't know if this is the place to say it, but when it comes to this type of behavior, it seems to me there is entirely too much mouthing off, gestures (like Harrison pointing to his head after making that 3) and cheap shots. Of course I realize that is the "face of the game" these days with bodies covered with"tats" and talking back to referees, coaches, interviewers. Yeah, I get it. I'm an old coot who should get with the program. If I were coaching, I guess I wouldn't be very successful at recruiting except maybe for West Point.

As we are aware, you and I both value Ignatian ethics. :) Hey - are you going to the Xavier gala?

Joeche- you are one of the all time Redmen.com good guys, and I agree with you somewhat on civility. Tattoos are a style and have no place in the discussion of behavior, so let's discard that. I don't mind Harrison's gesticulations one bit - he is a fired up kid on the court, and his growth in self control has been exponential. If he is in a conference room at some white color job 10 years from now and is thumping his chest, that's a different story. For now, I love to see him fired up and exhorting himself and the fans. Talking sh*t to the other teams bench during play is a good way to cause a bench clearing brawl, and is an entirely different matter.
