What are we.

I thought the comeback was really good. Unfortunately Harrison missed the free throw. Things started well in the overtime until Obekpa threw it away, and it was all downhill from there. Props to hooper. He finally put it in the hoop and kept the team in the game. His defense was also solid.

If they shoot even 50% from the line they win, despite everything else. That's not too much to ask.

A team that knows how to win makes that comeback and keeps rolling, not let up and thinks that the comeback is equivalent to a win.

4 and 2 now but easily could be 4 and 3 tomorrow. If you play Hooper now whose minutes disappear?
Too many players, no wonder Lavin kept Hooper on the bench but the kid busted out. Now he is a weapon
but who sits. Could cause problems.

Could also easily be 5-2 tomorrow.

There are gonna be games where someone sits and someone plays. It's unfortunate, but that is how the ball is gonna bounce. I'm sure it could cause problems, but we'll see how it shapes up down the road.

One game does not a weapon make.
Sanchez played 17 minutes tonight at his expense.
That's a flat out bad trade.
Hooper had a big turnover right before the half and his intentional sealed the game for PSU.
If our season hangs on Mr. Hooper, we're in deep sh!t.
Jordan played like 6 minutes tonight.
Think he's around for long?
This game was crippling, and after the Fordham game, things could get very ugly.

Maybe but without Hooper tonight. we are blown out in regulation. A player who can hit threes is a weapon
but not unless he plays, Check Hooper's percentage against the rest of the team. Not close.

If we're gonna play a bunch of bodies, then we might as well press for most of the game (which, I'd prefer). It seemed Hooper got hot, and Lavin decided to leave him in. IMO, he's good for spot minutes.

I'm not worried about Jordan bolting. There isn't any proof to him doing so. Let's allow things to play out.

I certainly agree about pressing. IMO, it's the ONLY D we should be playing (halfcourt trap after the misses). There's still a part of me wondering if Lavin is holding back for the big east season (I'm actually wondering that about every coach, and will continue to do so as long as the double round robin is in effect).

Sadly, I'm starting to believe that losing has bred more losing with this group, and that only a complete blowup of personnel will change things. I certainly understand the fans not having enough patience for something like that, but if Jordan doesn't play, then we still have the same point guard problems that will always hold us back, IMO.

I, mentioned a few days ago that I wouldn't press 40 minutes with this group, but I'd press no less than 30 minutes with them. I, like yourself, wondered if they were waiting 'til the conference season to do so. But I'm not sure. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm really hoping the staff decides to go that route, as I believe it'll benefit us at the end of the day.

I, kinda thought the same about 2010-2011 bunch, but they ended up proving me wrong. I told myself (and others), just like I'm telling myself now, to allow the season to play out and see what happens.

I've long been saying to give the Jordan the ball and let him cut his teeth.

If Hooper does not get in this game, we lose by more then 10.

Very average team!! I've seen bits and pieces of other bog east teams and we are far far from a contender right now!! We simply cannot defend and it's crazy tome that lavin won't switch it up and play straight 2-3 and press on all makes!! May be a long season fellas

So hard to judge when following on GT, but play-by-play reads like 'Karr is killing us tonight...

In my opinion he really did... not great shot selection, wild around the rim missing shots, missed the huge free throw at the end of the game and the stupid foul on the three point shooter...

But the team isn't well coached, the kids makes lots of not great decisions.. LOTS of them. Obekpa getting a rebound up 2 pts in over time and chucks up court for a home-run type play and it's intercepted... Harrison definitely forces shots too much during this game as well... he just drives toward the basket basket a lot and hopes he gets fouled.

I'd rather Harrison drive to the basket, instead of just chucking it up from the outside. Especially, with these emphasized foul rules.

Some of the decisions by the players come down to them not being smart players. It's not all coaching.

Yeah, it mostly is coaching in the sense that the coach recruited them and has had two years to get them to play the right way, and smarten up. Or maybe it's the system the coach has been using.

The performance of the team to date has been underwhelming and much of that rests on coach. For two years we heard about the youngest team, now it's about new players getting to mesh with the veterans. So three new guys, only two of which see significant time and two who spent the previous season sitting out and learning the system, need 21 games not counting a foreign tour and exhibitions, acording to coach they'll be on the same page in February, to mesh with seven guys who have one or two plus years together?

I wasn't at the game so since it wasn't televised I did not see it. I followed it the best I could online and reading what the reporters had to say on Twitter.

A couple thoughts.

Jordan has to play more because without him playing well this team will not have a big season. I thought despite the underwhelming stats, he made his presence felt in the Longwood game with some nice plays.

I still believe this team doesn't score enough and can't shoot, so Hooper needs to be given a chance to get hot and when he does he must stay out there.

Sampson has been disappointing thus far. He's the reigning big east rookie of the year (back when the big east was the most dominate conference) and its time he starts to dominate some games. We should be winning games because we have Sampson and they don't, but thus far that hasn't been the case.

How the hell do we lose a game when we out rebound the other team, have twice as many assists, block 11 shots, and knock down 11 three's? Unbelievable must of been very frustrating to watch.

No moral victories, maybe last two years but not this year. We had two opportunities for key wins (Penn St and Wisconsin) and we took advantage of neither. At this point the NCAA is doubtful unless we improve in a hurry. We need to start that improvement with a win over Tech.

Seasons dont make or break in November. Although our play has been somewhat discouraging, the season is still just starting. I believe we have the pieces to be very good. Obviously our play needs to improve but I dont think its fair to judge this team until they play a few conference games.
