were there recruits at the game?

2014 Chris McCullough

A blowout of this magnitude in front of a seemingly , Syracuse home court could have an adverse effect on the recruitment of those kids..... Especially if Syracuse is involved with either of them..... All in all a bad day.

Lets be real. One day/night does not determine where you go to college. We got all those kids last year to commit

and the only ones I recall that visited before they committed were Pelle and Amir. The rest committed before even

seeing a game.

Have to disagree. While they may have committed, did they all sign? And many lauded the coaching staff for the great job they did with last years group. Don't be naive enough to believe that a horrendous showing like today may not have an effect on a recruits decision. Let's hope not.

I don't know about that. If Obepka, Gathers and Sampson watched the game, I would think they would realize our need for them. Let's face it, they are our missing links for next year.

most kids dont want that challenge, they want to go to the team that has the "guaranty" the team everyone expects to be going deep in the tournament

We got a commitment from an excellent pg.
I expect 6 out of our 7 returning players to improve. We are two good 4 and 5 players from going deep in the tournament next season.

And then there are those kids that do and those are the ones to recruit.
BTW, some kids that don't want that challenge sometimes wind up sitting and then transferring to schools like Rider:)

The one positive out of this game from a commitment perspective is playing time. Some of these recruits must notice that an All American like Carter-Williams can't even crack the rotation within a stacked SU squad. These studs all have visions of going pro after 1 or 2 years in college. If that's what they are looking for, its going to even more difficult at SU since playing time is scarce due to their depth. Heck, even Waiters almost left after last season.

Trying to find a positive where i can find it ....

Fwiw, there is another top 120 forward we're heavily involved with that hasn't been brought to light yet. I've also heard the "mystery shooter" transfer still in play. Should be an interesting spring.

Along with the mystery shooter I heard there are also mystery rebounders, shot blockers, scorers, and assist guys.

Are you surprised we did not land anyone yet?

Just saying. These are real kids that some of us know about. Some names can't be mentioned yet for various reasons. I agree though that we need to land some kids soon. Don't want to get caught entering next season without two more big guys of some type.

How is a commitment from an excellent pg not landing anyone?

Branch was a HUGE commit for us. Having two PG's in Greene and Branch will do wonders over next few years.

having greene, branch and harrison rotate between the PG and SG positions all game long is big... Greene has definitely improved his shot lately and hopefully he'll continue to do so in the offseason. Greene has the makings as an adequate back-up SG when he isn't playing the point. Basically Greene can spell both Branch/Harrison all game long. He versatility will be huge for us.

now for a couple of big guys....

I've heard conflicting reports, but he's right, it might not be in 2012.

The bigs are the problem and what we're all anxious about.
