I think we suffered from too much hype last year. Some media personalities had us ranked in the top 25 based solely on the Pitino hire.

Which showed said media personalities' lack of knowledge about Pitino's history. His first-year squads have been historically bad due to him always taking over programs that need to be built/rebuilt. I didn't expect too many fireworks last season, but a 20-win first-year was definitely respectable. Year 2 is typically when a Rick squad turns it on. Circumstances are a bit different now, however, with graduations and the portal. It's essentially a brand new team, and thus, year 1 again in a sense. But, if these guys are as good as they've been touted, we may see some surprises early on, and definitely expect some noise come conference time.
