Really curious to see how our front court does on the boards, our three point shooting, and how many turnovers we can create. Feel like those are the three things that will be keys (and question marks) in every game for us.
Being so aggressive defensively and looking to create TO’s, might be one of our biggest reasons for struggling on the glass. Not impossible, but hard to do both things really well. I don’t see us not looking to turn teams over and be aggressive switching on the perimeter, so kind of imagine rebounding will be our challenge all season long.

I feel like our aggressive perimeter defense gets us more in trouble with defending the 3 consistently. I don't think its a coincidence in either game that they were shooting better when our defense was ineffective in getting the ball turned over.

I see our rebounding struggles having to do with Zuby not really having an instinct for the ball and getting out of position. It's probably the one part of the team I'm actually concerned about, but it's a long season.

Think that’s one and the same. Guys out of position to rebound effectively. Most noticeably Zuby on the perimeter.

Beyond the positioning, a lot of guys standing around and not attacking the ball when it’s shot. Deivon ran past multiple SJU players for rebounds on more than one occasion.

We need to be a team that attacks the glass on both sides as a team.

We will be undersized at 5 and 4 almost all game in conference.

Small sample, but yes his defensive rebounding has to improve much sooner than later.
Seems like he's been out of position too often, either because of who he is defending or teams now keying in on him and forcing him out. Point being, he needs to be more assertive on both sides of the ball. He needs to demand the ball in the post and set himself up to have leverage. And on defense, him rebounding has been his specialty so this is concerning. Hopefully just a blip, I have confidence in him

It’s happened over a handful of times in two games where our center was on the perimeter guarding the ball or contesting a 3, and wasn’t in the paint allowing for an offensive rebound. We can call it anything else, but having your biggest guy on the perimeter when shots go up is 100% a detriment to defensive rebounding, regardless of the other benefits. We’re lucky we have the rebounders we do have at the guard and wing or it could look worse.

Last year New Methico had the best backcourt in the MW. Needed to win MWCT to make it last year. I feel that team was better than this team. Also don’t know how good UCLA is, and will be especially playing in the Big Ten. Need to serve up another 35 point win Wednesday.

Last year, we had Big Joel who was not much of a perimeter player and struggled away from the bucket. So he was usually firmly parked in or around the paint. And there was Ledlum, whose best attribute was what he could do on the offensive glass, and he had no hesitation doing that. So it seemed like there was always traffic. Different personnel this year, and a different look for sure thus far.

Good news is that if we all see it, our excellent staff does.

If teams are consistently going to put him in the pick and roll position, maybe the simple answer is playing 2 bigs at the same time.

Zuby
Vince
RJ
And then 2 of Kadary, Deivon and Sim
