My Dear Mr. P
I had to laugh a few months ago when my sterling (proud Dad) daughter asked "Dad is it true when you were in law school you had to use books?"
Wow, yes take the book off the shelf, dust it off, go to photo copy machine...
Had me thinking just now of the Encyclopedia Americana and Encyclopedia Britanica which like the law school books I'd ( we'd for those of us old enough) take them off the shelf...
Well I feel fortunate to now have access to:
Encyclopedia Paultzman for the
St. John's Empire - the rise ( Louie) fall, now rise (Mullin) again
all the best

Love that Livingston shot 86% from charity stripe last year. Big Bonus in addition to rebounding

I had to look that up as soon as you posted...yes, 86% from the line, 122 for 142 as a sophomore, and a (respectable) 69% as a freshman. Commitment from him this week would be outstanding.

Awesome. If we add him I really think next year can be an NIT year with a small chance at the tournament. That may sound optimistic but heading into this year I wasn't very optimistic.

I'm thinking we'd have maybe a 40% chance to make the NIT or tournament barring any major injuries/ eligibility issues.

So I'm guessing that Livingston would have to sit out one year and have 2 years of eligibility remaining?

No, he is grad transfer who would play immediately. (for one year).

Is there a timeline on Livingston's decision?

I forgot that BC still had a men's basketball team. ..... WOW, the ACC had done wonders for BC athletics.

BC needs to hold some high-level top secret talks with the Big Ten to find out if they are expanding anytime soon, and then beg to be on the list of candidates. The ACC has killed them.

The problem with BC is not the ACC. The problem was and is BC. They were killing their athletics programs internally before they turned traitor. Bonus for us that ACC was greedy and thought they were being strategic.

To be fair, it was football or the daydream that BC could make it big in football that killed BC athletics. BC was and always will be the right fit for the (relative to the State schools) Big East and the other Catholic School basketball schools that now reside in the Conference.

But hey, they get to play and mostly lose to Notre Dame football every couple of years.

6-5 2019 Gill St. Bernard's G Paul Mulcahy will visit St. John's tomorrow on an Unofficial, his coach @MerginSina tells @SNYtv

- These are the only recent transfers I found that made the jump straight from the Sun Belt to a power conference.
- I think Livingston would be a great addition as an experienced tough rotation player, which we need because are bigs are young and thin, but I wouldn't expect him to be a double double machine.

Hey Adam jump on you tube ( start with Lovett and Ponds ) and watch that 40 percent stuff disappear. Our backcourt is going to be unbelievable and that's where it all starts. Ask Jay Wright. Our roster is ferocious and Chris can coach. We're finally where we have to be. I'm saying we dance for sure and I wouldn't want to play us in March. Don't forget Marcus already has a year of practice under his belt. Only question is whether Ponds is better.

Justin, I would be interested to know how many minutes each played per game at their power conference schools as opposed to many minutes they logged at their Sun Belt schools? What was their production per minutes played? I would assume they played less minutes at their power conference schools.

- You are correct that all these players got less minutes, but the same will most likely go for Livingston with Sima and Yakwe around
- Don't get me wrong though I think a guy like Livingston will be very productive for St. John's
- Livingston seems like a great rebounder while Sima and Yakwe are great shot blockers

All those guys maintained or improved their rebounding #s jumping up in ability level. You often hear scouts say that rebounding is the one thing that always translates. I think you could probably expect him to be our best rebounder. And if he is not, then that's probably even better news.

Thanks for the additional info Justin. I agree , I think he can be productive and compliments the players we already have. Hope we can close the deal with him this weekend.
