Villanova (MSG), Wed., Jan. 24, 8:30p, FS-1

he hasn't shown the three point shooting we expected, but is very very good from 15 feet and in.
After going 0-5 last night, Dingle is down to 31.3 from three. While Jordan did shoot 35.6 from three last year, his other 2 years he was 33+%, so he has never been a superior three point shooter. But he did shoot 46% overall last year and 86% from the line - I expect he'll get up to 33% from three and expect his overall FG & FT % to get closer to what they were last year. Love the overall floor game he played last night, looking for him to be a big part of our offense going forward..

Taylor was as active as anyone I’ve ever seen guarding the inbounds. It was really affecting Nova. I would think you’d want Luis there with his length but Taylor so much more active.
Luis seems to get a few deflections and at least one steal a game when he is guarding someone when they try to inbound. Sometimes he gets a little over aggressive (like his last foul) but nonetheless, very disruptive.

Totally agree about Taylor. The press really bothered them all game and it started from the head (the guy pressuring the inbounder).

You are right, Dixon is more of a PF. Even in this new age game he has enough outside ability to play the 4. The fact that he can play the 5 is a testament to how tough and strong he is.

There was only one shot Dingle took that I didn’t like. I don’t care if he (or Soriano) shoots 20 shots a game. He’s a better scorer than Jenkins will ever be. He needs to stop doubting himself. Maybe that doesn’t happen this year? You can literally see him hesitating on his jumpers. He may not be a better point guard, but I think he’s better for the team on the ball for at least 1/3 of the game. Being the best PG on this team is like being the best at fractions in a remedial math class.

Limit Jenkins to 9 shots like last night and I literally don’t care how dumb half his shots are. When he’s shooting 15-18 shots we are doing the other team a huge favor.

He’s just not good enough to be responsible for so much of our ball-handling, creating, passing, and shooting. Last night was a much better split and he took 4 of the dumbest shots a player could take.

Soriano is almost literally not missing (8-9 from field) and Jenkins is dribbling behind his back and shooting bombs from way past the NBA line when he’s 30.4% on the year and 0-4 for the night? WTF😂 Be honest, have you ever seen that kind of false confidence in your life?

I mean, we are talking about a guy that has effectively played 3 seasons above the MAAC now and is shooting 24.6%, 23.3%, and 30.1% in those 3 seasons. And that guy is shooting 5 threes a game?
Clearly, you never played with some of my teammates in the Chelsea Piers leagues. 😃

There's a movie line that is somewhat applicable to RJ: He has a million dollar arm and a ten cent head. Better decision-making would go a loooooong way to making him a star.

As much as I hate playing against Dixon; he can play for me anytime. Does he have any eligibility left after this season? 😁
Exactly how I feel about Kolec too!: I hate him, but sure wish we had him. I think that's what this team's missing: that one kid that all the other team's and their fans really hate lol

Only complaint about the game was the 8:30 plus start and finishing close to 11 and getting home late (and that is living in Brooklyn).

Thought this was our best defensive effort to date; nearly held The Lox under 50. I am glad the Joel had a comeback game. NIce to have a week to heal (particularly after huge win) and glad that X plays Uconn on Saturday in Conn.

great to have Coach Rick back and healthy

Jenkins gave up the ball in the closing seconds for the second time that I’ve noticed to avoid the charged turnover. Zuby was man enough to take it on his behalf. Not a good look. Ledlum took one earlier in the year for him.
Wrong, it did happen but great help defense stoped the penetration. Best D we have seen all year. And while it did open up some shots, thankfully Nova continued to miss their three point attempts.
😂😂but it didn't happen. Most of the time the defense recovered 1v1 and walked up near basket.
