If you are going to only 1 game this season consider the South Florida game on Wednesday, February 20 at Carnesecca Arena.

It will be Legend's Night.

Tip Off is at 7pm.

University has reached out to all former players and managers and looks for a great turtnout.

You will want to be there when a great number of St. John's players return to campus to have their picture taken with COACH at halftime and enjoy the game.

It will be a great opportunity to loudly applaud the players who have been responsible our great basketball tradition and embrace them with a rousing standing ovation.

Show your appreciation !!

Be part of St. John's basketball history !! Get your tickets now !!!

By the way, It is also Lou Carnesecca Bobble Head Giveaway night at CA !!

How many of our legends will actually be there. Will Chris and Mark be making an appearance? Sadly, they rarely do.

I'll be in Aruba but there in spirit. My friends, either Frank or John ( big SJU fans ) will probably use my season ducats.

Mullin has showed up at a few games the last couple of years.

His ESPN schedule and living on the West Coast makes it difficult at times.

Doubt Mark will be there given his Golden State coaching schedule.

That said, would hope Wooden Award Winner, Walter Berry will be "in the house" among many others

Coach Carnesecca isn't getting any younger (he just turned 88) and I woud think many of his former palyers will make the trek.

That said, COACH looks much younger than the date on his birth certificate.

Do know the university has made a major effort to reach out to all basketball alumni.

I know Gus Alfieri, a starter and star on the 1958-59 team will be attending.

As a senior his team (Alan Seiden, Tony Jackson, Lou Roethel, Rich Engert) won the 1958 Holiday Festival and The 1959 N.I.T., when both were big time tournaments.

Coach Carnesecca was Coach Lapchick's #1 asssistant on that that squad, as you know.

To add Mullin has been a lot more involved with the program since Lavin took over.

Last few years Mullin seems to make one or more appearances per year. He came to the gamewatch also at JAmesons, and also appeared at the pregame 25th anniversary celebration before having to depart before the game to catch a flight for the NBA all star game. All in all, he probably travelled 3 hours out of his way to spend 20 minutes with his teammates.

My guess is that the athletic department has been much more receptive to inviting or comping former players. Glen Williams, Mel Utley, Walter Berry, George Johnson, and others ahve already made appearances this year, with at least Williams and Johnson making multiple appearance. Diakhite sat in front of me at the Garden last week, and became my "buddy", high fiving me and chatting basketball all night. He's a really good guy, and was an animated fan all game. Really nice to see - many former players just sit and watch - Diakhite thoroughly enjoyed himself.

You telling me that guys don't get days off from ESPN gigs all the time to attend functions? And guys don's fly a few hours to attend events for their alma mater? The fact of the matter is that Jackson and Mullin are probably the two most recognizable faces to ever suit up for us, and they rarely show their faces around here. Sorry, I aint buying the excuses.

Mo works with a cousin of mine. My cousin always tells me what a great guy he is.

Well STJ doesn't pay the bills. Forget Jax now. He's a head coach of an NBA team. You are not seeing him around. I was very critical of Mullin and during Norm years he was invisible. Ironically just like most of our fans. That's human nature. He didn't want to be around a losing depressing program. Again since Lav he has been around A LOT more. He cut a commercial for Red White too.

To be fair, Mullin was engaged as GM of the Warriors for much of NR's term here. To my knowledge his fmaily is largely still on the West coast. His son is playing lacrosse for St. John's this year, so perhaps he will be around a little more as the season progresses, schedule allowing.

When you say Mullin has been around a lot more, where has he been around? Maybe others have seen him, I haven't. As for his disgust with the state of the program under Norm, certainly he could have put those feelings aside for the sake of his old coach and teammates and attended both the 25th anniversary(f84-85 team) and the arena naming. I'll agree that Jackson has an excuse now, but he didn't show his face before he got the coaching gig. I don't really give a hoot if Mullin and Jackson don't care enough about their alma mater to make the occasional public cameo for a big event and support the school/program, that's their prerogative. I'm just not buying the excuses.
