UConn Fans Talking About Us

""Lavins overall record is 185-108. 5 Sweet 16's, One Elite 8 and NCAA appearances 7 of 10 years coaching. One of those years he was sidelined with cancer. The other two were as a lame duck his final season at UCLA and this season when he suspended Harrison. Those numbers don't indicate bad coach.

Fwiw, I've heard that Rysheed Jordan has no baggage and no grade problems contrary to some comments here.""

I like that quote in response to Lavin being such a "bad coach." They do make some fair points about "next year" balways being our year. We do say that a lot, even though this time I actually believe it...

Kudos to MCNPA for setting things straight with UConn's arrogant fans. (Does that one poster really think they're headed to the Final Four next year?) Hope their dreams of going to the Big 10 or ACC never materialize.

Joe3 should be forced to read MCNPAs posts on that thread. Way to represent us MCNPA.

Why are we posting on other school's boards? We hate it when fans from other schools come to our board, so why are we going to theirs?

I don't hate it when fans of other teams boards come here and try to have fair and reasonable conversations. I actually enjoy it. I do hate it when they come here (or vise versa) and make a fool of themselves by acting like their team is the best thing in the world and try to down talk your school. Come in peace and you will be treated with respect. There are a few uconn fans on this board who do a great job representing their fans.

We hate when fans from other schools come on ours and act like dicks. I don't think any of us has a problem with civilized fans visiting.

Speaking of which, Hey Marcus, whatever happened to your man Alex?

I agree, nice job MCNPA, good dialog with the guy who seemed to be knowledgeable and you didn't let yourself get sucked in by the idiot Devils fan.

Looks like the ACC is set for the future. I guess UCON will be stuck in the AAC forever!

Knock, Knock
Who's there?
UCON
UCON Who???
That's right!!!!!

Actually, Uconn plays in a conference that does not have the grant of rights stranglehold on its member schools.

"With the grant of rights in place at three other power leagues, if the Big Ten wants to add more schools, it would have to target schools from leagues that don't have a grant of rights -- the SEC, the American Athletic Conference (formerly Big East), Mid-American, Conference USA, Mountain West, Sun Belt -- or BYU."

_________
A) so much for the dreams of posters who predicted the demise of the ACC with 6 to 8 teams bolting for other conferences
UCONN STUCK IN THE AAC FOREVER? That's possibly as big a dream as the ACC breaking up.
B) the ACC has 15 schools - should they wish to go to an even 16 there's a spot for -- knock, knock, UCONN calling
C) very slim possibility but Big 10 has gone to the East Coast for expansion (say Maryland and Rutgers) and UCONN might fit future plans - UCONN fb is currently brutal but they would give Big 10 a chance to get their TV network into an area with a large population base which was probably the part the reason Rutgers got an invite - 8 mil people in NJ plus dreams of RU bringing in NYC
D) slim but not as slim as (C) Big XII has 10 schools - there has been pressure from NCAA to have fb conferences have a minimum of 12 schools - UCONN, Cincy??

It's pretty ironic that posters there are discussing how Lavin once again went after a player with academic issues because they claim that's the only way SJU can get a high impact recruit, when their program was not allowed to participate in the NCAA's because of poor academics.

I can't wait untill uconn is in the toilet again. Many of those fans were never around when they were Big East bottom feeders. It very well can happen to them again.

Alex is good. Haven't seen him on here in a while, but he's around. I hope to see him soon. Like I said, real good guy. I've been posting here and there on the boneyard for years. Every once in a while I throw something out there.

It's official: Napier returning for next season.

He would have been foolish to leave ... but I think UConn fans are a little delusional: They're saying this more or less guarantees a Final Four berth and maybe another title.

(Alex: Would love to hear your feedback on this.)

My two cents is that Napier might have been smart to leave this year considering how weak the draft class is. Do we envision him getting a lot better this season? He's not like Jakarr who needs more weight, strength and more polished moves. He will be playing in a crapola conference called the AAC now which could help or hurt him.

As far as uconn for a NC. I think it's laughable at this point. We beat them without Branch this season and were beating them good until they got hot from 3 and pulled it close. They still have no inside game and won't this year either despite their multitude of stiff centers. Facey is a nice athlete and defensive presence but won't help them with post scoring. Nobody else they are bringing in will either. Guard their 1-3 spots solid enough and they are cooked if not hitting 3's. I think their talk of a NC is premature for certain.

I would never write of a Calhoun coached team, but Ollie is not Calhoun and Napier is not Kemba. This team has a ceiling of a Sweet 16, and only with the right matchups and near perfect health IMO I really like their back court..Napier is a steady, experienced point that can shoot..but I think that many pundits would favor our backcourt over Uconn's come March if Jordan is anywhere near as good as his ranking suggests.

If they run into a team with a dominant big, they are done.

Like I said, we beat them with only Phil at PG, a freshman PF and C and no Sanchez either. Their back 3 of Napier, Boatright and Calhoun are real good. Their frontcourt is nowhere near the same level. In our backcourt we add Jordan and return Branch, Harrison and Greene. With Branch healthy, it gives us several options in the backcourt. Add Gift, Sanchez, Hooper to a roster that is a year stronger and more experienced and I don't think it is close.

Is Gift coming back or is he going to harvard?
