This article in today’s Connecticut Post was interesting, to say the least. Between Danny Hurley throwing out the first pitch at a Mets game, and UCONN claiming it is NYC’s “Sixth Borough” I had to laugh. Their freakin’ campus is 140 miles from midtown! All the more reason to keep them out of the Big East.

I can tell you they hold alumni events pretty frequently in NYC too

Thanks Tony. I would expect we will hear plenty from the little rat Danny Hurley. I loved how they misspelled his name in the article. I will admit Hurley is not stupid and he will try to get attention in NY by any means as Yukon is diminished playing in that irrelevant and crappy conference. I expect him to weasel his way around to resurrect their brand.
 
Please most ppl don't even consider Staten Island a borough cause of its proximity and we are only a bridge ride away!

Sorry UConn, you are not in the culture or within proximity of NYC as hard as you may try. On another note jumping on the SI jokes (sorry couldn't resist), one of my friends is from Dongan Hills and he met up with me in the city. I took the LIRR from Ronkonkoma and got to midtown before his "express" bus arrived. The Ronkonkoma train is 80 minutes to Penn. Pretty funny considering that many people make fun of Ronk for being out in the boonies and I beat my friend to the city who technically lives within city limits.
 
I have on pretty good authority that Uconn plans to move to Rikers Island once the final transition of prisoners takes place. The plan would then be to petition the city to make Rikers a 6th borough. Nostradamus predicted this would occur in one of his visions. The new mascot will be a student in a convict uniform. The new nickname will be the Uconnvicts.
It was all predestined and the arrival of Hurley brings the prediction full circle.

Ok, uconn can be the sixth borough only after they agree to pay the absurdly high NYC taxes.

And I hope they realize that those taxes will not be funneled towards paying for campus improvements.

Please just leave unconn alone and do waste your time discussing them. They want and need the Big East badly. Ignore them, and they will just wither away in a mediocre hoops conference.

Those fans have earned every ounce of indignity that will follow them. Let uconn fans be forced to relive the glory days of Jim Calhoun as their only source of basketball thrills.

Of course, that only happens on days that the LIRR is actually running. Just ask MJM how he enjoyed the Gtown game. :evil:

By the way, remember UConn fans were arguing that NYC is too far from CT when discussing Heron. Which one is it Yuck-on fans? Are you the 6th borough, or are you far away?

Having taken both (many on the same day for work... ugh) not much difference between rock meet hard place. They are both run by MTA. :sick:
 
I would agree, with the one major difference being that if you are stuck in Penn it is basically hell, and Grand Central is at least purgatory.
 
Yeah, yeah, pukon's the sixth borough; kinda like when cuse considers themselves an NYC suburb.:p :angry:
