UCONN and AAC fans upset

I can't say I'm unhappy that Syracuse, BC, Pitt, and UConn are all not in the tournament. Call it schadenfraude, but I do like to see former BE schools fall flat.

Add VA Tech and Rutgers to that list.
Now is the time to root for our conference teams and Villanova is our best hope. Still pulling out the rest of what is left of my hair about our predicament. Another opportunity squandered and our mal' occhio continues.

Rutgers is not falling flat. They are maintaining the same basketball acumen they brought with them to the Big East.

And Va Tech was never in the Big East. I think you're thinking of West Virginia, which was in the league for a few years.

VA Tech was indeed in the Too Big East, until the ACC made its first raid on the Big East and plucked VT and BC.

yep and I think Miami might have left around the time va tech did

Yukon should drop out of the AAC, join the Big East and play football as an independent
They'll probably never be in a BCS bowl game in that conference anyway
They have probably invested too much money in football to drop it all together

Uconn's next stop might be the american east after their roto rooter conference implodes. They can battle it out with stony brook and albany for the 1 bid

. We are insane not to be crawling to Providence and begging the Big East for an invitation tomorrow.[/i]

Won't do them any good going to Providence since Big East Headquarters are in NYC.

Miami and Va. Tech left at the same time. It was supposed to be Miami, Syracuse and BC but the UVa got Duke, UNC and a few others to reject Cuse and BC to take Va. Tech instead. Cuse licked their wounds and crawled back to Providence (Headquarters was till there and stayed). ACC later that year did accept BC.

Uconn was good for the Big East and neither Jim Calhoun or Geno Auriemma wanted out of the conference. Their university president got them into their current mess.

I'm not a fan of UConn. I was rooting hard against them yesterday. I would love them back but I'd be shocked if they came back in the next few years. They want P5 money and I don't blame them. They just recently poured millions into football. Frankly if I was in charge there I'd wait it out a few years and hope for an invite. Their basketball program will suffer a bit but they're still recruiting well.

Regardless of what the coaches wanted, UCONN was and is still hopping the ACC grabs them. Boeheim also did not want to leave the Big East, but that didn't stop Cuse from eventually leaving after trying to leave previously one documented time and word has it, possibly once before that.

As long as they have FBS football, they will not be invited back. Been done that road and the BE will not look to repeat it. If they expand, it will be none FBS schools who are preferably not large State Schools like Dayton, Richmond or St. Louis.

I'm
Temple got screwed and no way Ok St., UCLA, LSU should be in over them but AAC has no juice despite UCONN winning it all last year. As a matter of fact most fans are starting to realize it as noted below.

You think you are clever with that question, but you have been wrong every step of the way, and I have been right every step of the way, on this issue. Look at the AAC bids, look at our recruiting, look at the Big East bids, look at the Big East recruiting, and look at our respective money. We are insane not to be crawling to Providence and begging the Big East for an invitation tomorrow.

I agree completely and IMO is the beginning of the BCS taking over the tournament selections. The committee put most of their eggs in the SOS basket which obviously slants things ridiculously towards the power conferences. Was the root of my fear about the BE getting screwed one team but that obviously did not happen. Moot point but I wonder if the Obepka suspension was announced earlier if the committee would have slighted us? It wasn't, they didn't and lets hope we can beat San Diego. Going to be a tough game mentally; thay are a tough minded defensive team that is offensively challenged. We need to bring the intensity.

Committee member said that they knew about the suspension the night before and they debated it and took it into consideration. He said that it moved us a bit. I suspect it took us from an 8 to a 9. Bery little impact. Frankly, I don't think we could have gotten a better seeding unless we had won another game or two at the end. An 8 might have moved us to a different region. I prefer where we are.

getting 6 teams out of 10 is remarkable and a testament to the new league. It matches the old 10 team Big East in many respects. As far as the overall tournament, the Power 5 are protecting their own via the at large bids. Glad that the Big East was "approved". I believe the early 35 and 1 start or whatever it was opened the basketball communities eyes including ESPN and we remained there. A few more good years and it can become perennial.

The Big East is more than just "approved".....look at our scheduling....none of the Power 5 conferences are shunning us....remember, we just entered into a 8-year "Gavitt Tip Off Classic" with the Big 10 that will kick off the season with 8 games between Big 10 and Big East members starting next season.....i think there will always be a place for our league....

Saw George Blaney (a real gentleman) at the BE semis on Friday night. Said, "Coach, UConn should be here at the Garden." Think he spoke for most UConn fans when he shook his head and responded, "You're absolutely right. They should be here and not in Hartford."
