UCONN and AAC fans upset

Temple got screwed and no way Ok St., UCLA, LSU should be in over them but AAC has no juice despite UCONN winning it all last year. As a matter of fact most fans are starting to realize it as noted below.

You think you are clever with that question, but you have been wrong every step of the way, and I have been right every step of the way, on this issue. Look at the AAC bids, look at our recruiting, look at the Big East bids, look at the Big East recruiting, and look at our respective money. We are insane not to be crawling to Providence and begging the Big East for an invitation tomorrow.

I am so happy the Big East didn't become irrelevant like many thought.

Six invites=60% of the conference dancing. #2 in RPI in the nation. Success!

Glad we stayed. Glad to be rid of the greedy football schools.

I won't call this season a success until we all play well in the tournament and some teams other than nova win games

I agree completely and IMO is the beginning of the BCS taking over the tournament selections. The committee put most of their eggs in the SOS basket which obviously slants things ridiculously towards the power conferences. Was the root of my fear about the BE getting screwed one team but that obviously did not happen. Moot point but I wonder if the Obepka suspension was announced earlier if the committee would have slighted us? It wasn't, they didn't and lets hope we can beat San Diego. Going to be a tough game mentally; thay are a tough minded defensive team that is offensively challenged. We need to bring the intensity.

Agree completely short term but long term who knows? A lot of money in basketball and IMO the BCS conferences are going to manuever to get it all. We are not out of the woods long term by any means.

BCS won't exclude Big East. Say they separated and excluded teams like Nova, Georgetown, Uconn, Cincy, Memphis, Gonzaga, etc. Then the NCAA tournament lives on (though obviously greatly hindered). . If they separate and invite other high majors, the NCAA tournament would be dead. It'd be a lot easier to separate and invite other great basketball schools and conferences than to pretend they don't exist and let the NCAA tournament continue. Teams like Stony Brook or St. Francis? Sure they may have something to worry about. But not the Big East.

Nova, G-town are perennial winners and tourney teams. We get our act together and this conference flourishes.

The other programs like Butler, PC, etc. add to the success.

Not out of the woods, but the first two years have gone better than some predicted.

Nova winning it all is what we should all be rooting for. Would be great for the conference in every way.

The committee was informed Saturday and claimed that it affected our seeding slightly.

I'm surprised the non-UCONN fans in the ACC are not more upset that their conference tournament turned into all home games for UCONN! Why would they agree to hold their tournament in Hartford? Wonder if it was an enticement to UCONN to get them to join the conference.

UCLA definitely was a complete farce and the NCAA has a long history of Double Standards with UCLA in particular, but OK St was much more legitimate. Head to head I think OKSt would destroy Temple. They had a bunch of top 25 wins and some decent wins out of conf. Temple should be in ahead of UCLA no doubt about it. Heck, Ucon had a better case than UCLA

Agree with all you share but long term I believe the BCS schools are going to seperate from the NCAA or just just transform it into an administrative front doing their bidding. Again, as everyone knows it is all about the money and right now the BCS conferences are focused on football revenues. At some point in time they are going to go after basketball. I certainly may be wrong but that is how I see it playing out. Schools like Temple and Richmond were considered in the tourney by many "experts" and were by-passed. We shall see if it is a trend or just an anomoly this year. But I do agree short term (5-10 years maybe) I believe it will basically be business as usual for the BE. And I do agree the conference has had a stronger showing than expected in its first two years.

UCLA shouldn't be in but they're RPI 49 vs. 70 for UConn. UCLA getting in isn't as ridiculous as people make it out to be.

I'm all for the AAC getting left out again. Half the teams in that conference are a complete joke. They shouldn't be rewarded for beating mediocre teams. Temple beat Kansas and who else? I think just 2 top 50 wins total.

Don't just brush by temple beating Kansas. That kansas team has a 1 RPI and a 3 SOS. And temple blew them out. Temple easily should've been in over UCLA. Easily

UCLA had one very good home win, 2 good home wins and 0 good road wins. Their schedule including 13 losses, was padded with a lot of cream puffs. I was mostly kidding about Ucon and frankly I'd be a lot more unsettled if Ucon had stolen a bid rather than UCLA. The NCAA rep said UCLA got in because they "passed the eye test" but if you look at it that could only mean that they looked good losing to Arizona. Because the eye test is nothing but mediocre. They were 4-3 in February and March consisted of beating a crummy USC team (twice) and WSU and losing to AZ.

True but look at their 8 top 50 losses (vs. 2 top 50 wins). They weren't really competitive in those games. They have a good home win over 41 Cincy and an excellent home win over 3 Kansas. That's basically their resume. One excellent win and a bunch of meh isn't enough to guarantee an invite.

Note, I'm not saying "no way they should be in", but rather I completely understand why they were left out.

I agree UCLA shouldn't be in (though it isn't a complete shocker to me either). That's pretty much all I thought was off about their selections this year though.

I agree that Nova winning it all would be great for the BE and I hope that the other five teams including us do some damage.

Nova in the finals and one other BE team in Elite Eight, good showing for BE.

Let's GO BIG EAST!

getting 6 teams out of 10 is remarkable and a testament to the new league. It matches the old 10 team Big East in many respects. As far as the overall tournament, the Power 5 are protecting their own via the at large bids. Glad that the Big East was "approved". I believe the early 35 and 1 start or whatever it was opened the basketball communities eyes including ESPN and we remained there. A few more good years and it can become perennial.
