LOL... Not sure why but I'll bite...
First of all the "business" of college sports is and always has been primarily related to the power 5 conferences
and those other conferences and programs that aspire to be in that sphere (which is pretty much every single one)! So based on your "only half truths" this is 100% true - Power 5 conferences have been making millions and paying their athletes - hmm - NOTHING.
In regards to the poor SJU's of the world. Astonishing that they are able to fire a coach with millions due, hire a new coach and guarantee $20 million over contract. On top of that they somehow found a few nickles and dimes in the administration office cushions to build a new on-campus PRACTICE facility for - ready for it - the Basketball team only (estimates of $50M+).
Yet, in your warpped mind, the athletes who put on this show which then generates the revenue should shut up and be happy with tuition, room and board. Maybe that's the package they should have offered Pitino or the AD or the assistant coaches? Hey it's for the betterment of the university right? All should be on board for that... and btw, if you are so concerned about giving people of color an opportunity, would you care to tell us who IS most impacted by the inequities of revenue in this equation?? anxiously awaiting your answer to that one.
BTW, if you think only Power 5 are making investments into sports you may want to educate yourself on the matter, I'm happy to assist with a few articles and even a video (easier for you to follow, maybe).
A new 'sports facilities arms race' is driven by television and sponsorship revenue, as well as the brand value associated with success in men's and women's college basketball and other top sports.
