Trimble

i don't get the "sound defender" part. Kid was beaten off the dribble on a regular basis. Maybe if he takes off some weight that might make a difference in that regard.[/quote]
Maybe they were referring to the sound the offensive player produced while he was blowing by Trimble #whoosh

Kid was asked to do more than he was ready for by necessity. I believed then and continue to believe he can be a solid 4 year contributor if he gets in better shape. He showed some solid defense when opponents tried to back him down due to his strength; agree that weight loss is needed to avoid blow by situations against quicker guards though, as this was a problem last year.

Gotta say if Heron is eligible and Dixon and Figueroa come close to expectations Trimble looks to be seeing vastly reduce minutes this year, and he'll likely be fighting for those with Williams.

In positionless baskeball he is our combo 3 pt shooter and Backup center! Keita, Clark, Earlington, Heron and Trimble are our 5 biggest guys. I hope we see Trimble for 4 years. He showed a nice stroke early and some poise. I think he may have hit a wall a little physically but I'd like to see him as a Junior/Sr.

Agree Trimble has a nice stroke and his percentage from 3 can go up. Didn’t see much else offensively but that could improve over time. He was very aggressive defensively often to the point of picking up unnecessary fouls but if he trims down that aggressive attitude should pay off.

We really get negative on our young guys very quickly. Freshman that can light up the stat sheet in the Big East our the exception, not the rule.

If he turns into a 4 year guy like Phil Greene or DJ Kennedy, I'd be happy as a clam. Heck, I'd love to have another Paris Horne!

Just don't see him being a big contributor with all the guards, especially so if Heron is eligible.

A 2G with nice size and a sweet stroke is a real commodity coming of the bench situationally. Especially one as poised as Trimble is. If he gets in better shape and sticks around, he could prove to be a very valuable asset the next 3 years.

100% agree with Monte. Way too much criticism leveled at this kid. Clark has clearly taken him under his wing. I see him improving this year, but really helping us the following year when Shamorie moves on.

I, too, see his minutes declining, especially if Heron is eligible
Quite frankly, when I saw the title of the thread, I expected to read that he is transferring
I hope he doesn't - if he gets into better shape, he can be a rotational player in the future

The way I see it, with a coach who in his 50s is one of the fittest, if not THE fittest guy on the team, this guy is already whipping himself into shape. If that happens, we can see a vastly improved player who will earn PT.

The roster is much deeper so the writing is on the wall for him. He doesn't have much of a choice. Get in shape or ride the pines.

After crazy debacles with lovett, jordan, obekpa, recruits transferring a couple days after school starts, even transvestite robbers, common sense goes out the window.

The staff really likes his potential, and he lucked into the minutes he wouldn't have gotten.

I'm gonna guess that merely due to the fact he has stuck around he has accepted the challenge of getting into shape. If that happens, could be a lot of fun to watch.

So basically what you’re saying is that if the cards fall in to place(in the backcourt) just perfectly(when was the last time that happened around here?), and/or if Trimble did not get in to better shape over the summer, then he will see reduced minutes. If I were a betting man, I’d put my money on Trimble being a solid contributor this coming year.

I hope you are right. But I think Greg Williams will end up higher on the depth chart than Trimble by season's end. I like him a lot. Has the body and athleticism to be a great defender, will compliment Ponds and Dixon well.

A defensive lineup of Simon, Heron and Greg Williams will give other teams loads of problems

Agree with most but would say Simon, LJ, and Roberts would all be asked to guard "bigs" before Trimble. As an 8th or so man we really cant ask for much more tho.

First of all I can't understand why an athlete lets himself get out of shape, especially one with a basketball scholarship and expects to play more then a few minutes a game. Still, I thought Trimble made some changes to his outside game and showed some moves on drives to the basket plus pull up jumpers. I'm rooting for this kid.

You're right I forgot about Roberts even though he is still pretty thin. Simon is too important 1-3 to be guarding bigs and he is pretty thin. LJ looks more finesse than strength to me but we'll see. It's a little bit of hyperbole on my part but there was a game in fact where Trimble was our "big man" on the floor and wasn't pushed around inside.

I like my role players as upperclassmen, ergo my opinion. I also can see Trimble making a meaningful contribution as a jr and sr. Additionally, I prefer to see 8 very good players sharing minutes than 10 ok players doing the same. Looks like there's a chance for the former if, as you say, the cards fall in to place. I understand entirely why we shouldn't expect that but hope springs eternal.
