TJ Cleveland's Role at SJU

Not sure why it became a joke to trash on TJ. I get people were pissed off and unhappy and it was a byproduct of being related to the HC but it was all based on childish nonsense.

He was the main person who helped work with Joel Soriano take the leap he did this year.
I didn't start the thread to trash on TJ, I just don't understand the value he brought. If it's non-sense, he should find be able to find another coaching job unrelated to CMA. Especially if he's behind the development of guys like Soriano, Champ, and Wheeler.

This is nothing against TJ, and I brought this up awhile ago, but I did find it interesting that CMA was allowed to bring in a family member as his top assistant.

I don't understand this thread at all. He has been with Mike at every stop which explains why he was on the staff here and he won't be on the staff going forward so who cares at this point.

Interesting you would think because he is related to Mike that he would no longer be asked to stick around but his name and bio still appears on SJU website.

And as I mentioned previously, Mike Jarvis brought his son with him as an assistant. If there is no policy against it, you can do it. Not mentioned, it is no like he didn't have coaching experience as he was an assistant under Anderson at Arkansas for several years and prior to that at UAB.

Incidentally, Scott Drew, who won the 2021 National Championship at Baylor, was an assistant coach under his father, Homer, at Valparaiso as was his brother Bryce.

If SJU consistently made the tournament during Anderson’s time here there would little problems of having a family members on the staff.

During Jarvis’s first two years, no one cared his son was on the staff. Only after they started losing did it become an issue.

IMO leave him alone he never did anything to embarrass us and honestly I don’t even know what he did but the whole staff always represented the school well regardless of the results we wanted

I never even thought about the Assistant Coaches. The face of the Program is the Head Coach. Up to him to parse out HIS responsibilities. They fail, HE fails. In general, the Head guy goes, they all go. When we name a new Coach, it’s his decision who comes on board based on his agreement with the school.

I wanted him to get the Central Arkansas job, but they are losing their best kids to the portal so not sure I'd wish that on him now.
