Morton, Abramson and especially the Daily News sports editor should be embarassed.

If STJ doesn't comment this story has as much legs as a local news announcer declaring they want Anne Curry's job. Well who doesn't?

Understood that Morton wants the job. At best, a few years ago he might have gotten the DOBO job. With that said, what has Tiny done for SJU all these years? The only contributing player he has steered us was none other than drumroll... Eugene Lawrence. I don't think Tiny ever helped SJU with his players. Now he wants a job because it is obvious that what Lavin touches turns to gold. No thanks...

You said it better than I could. Can't believe that Daily News became a mouthpiece for this stuff.

I like how Tiny says he's not "vying" for a job yet thats EXACTLY what he's doing lol. *facepalm*

Along with Coach Lavin's other proven skills I guess he needs to politely handle situation like this. It would be interesting to wonder what Coach is really thinking. :(

I dont hold a grudge ag. Tiny bec. Norm was the coach that could not draw a Lance Stephenson

The guy has won alot & would help local recruiting if you ask me hire him

Tiny called stj's a dream job & Lavin holds all the cards in this card game
Lavin needs all the stars from ny he can get.

I don't think Lavin has to address it at all. How many times have you sent in a resume and didn't hear back from the company? Granted this is a little more public, but still think Lavin can keep it private and has no need to make a public comment.

No one likes him, so I'm not sure how that would help recruiting.

You mean no one likes him from a far have you met him in person? How come he attracts
very good players at Lincoln? they must like him for his BB IQ

I

He has no basketball IQ. He is a street hustler who poses as a coach. He has nothing to bring to the table.

Not sure why anyone is attacking Tiny. He probably picked the wrong way to go about campaigning for the assistant job and he wouldn't be the guy to replace Dunlap.. But people are wrong about him. He is very well liked in NY by kids and wouldn't be bad for a Dobo spot. Can't fault the guy for having higher aspirations .

Why do you say he's a street hustler? I understand he is a Junior High teacher and a High School BB coach. Where does the "hustling" come in?

I would have no problem with Tiny in a DOBO role if everyone just gets a bump.

One thing we have to keep in mind is that if we do bring Tiny on board, any players he's coached are off limits for the next couple of years. I don't know if that impacts any of our big targets for '13 or '14, but maybe one of the others on the board can comment. Other than showing that he's establishing a local pipeline for coaches, I don't see what we get out of Tiny joining our staff. We need a more college level assistant coach, as others have said.

That's only if he is a DOBO, not the case as an asst.

Based on?

Ageed MJ I can't figure out the logic on this one at all.

I know nothing about the NY HS hoops scene except what I've read here over the past 15 years. The feelings I get about Morton are that some think he's dirty in the way he attacted players to transfer to Lincoln. Not sure why or how but its been stated frequently by some of his critics.
