There was a deleted tweet earlier today that he and whitehead were spotted watching the Lincoln/Boys and Girls game earlier. Zach B posted that wasn't allowed but I guess his departure explains that.

@NYPost_Brazille: Isaiah Whitehead remains fully committed to Seton Hall per source despite Tiny Morton's departure. #hallin
@NYPost_Brazille: Multiple sources say this was completely Morton's decision not to return to Seton Hall. Candidate to replace him is Grant Billmeier. #hallin

@NYPost_Brazille: The plan for Tiny Morton is to go back to his old job teaching math in Coney Island. Any coaching at any level is uncertain.

Damn, if we had only held off on St. Jean just a little longer. . .

I assume Tiny will backstab the guy took over? Or is he allowed to coach at any PSAL team? Do you have to coach at the school you teach at?

You do not have to coach at the school that you teach at
This is America!!
You can coach anywhere someone is willing to hire you

True but you normally coach where you teach and you can't live off just a HS coaches salary.

@CNG_Staszewski: Morton confirmed he left Seton Hall to return to teaching, but denied an earlier report that he has returned as the head coach at Lincoln.

It's true that you can't live on a H.S. coach's salary
But it's not true that you have to coach where you teach
Years ago, I taught in one district on L.I. and coached in another
I know many people that have done that through the years
I have a friend who worked in Nassau County and coached at a HS in Queens

Sewanhaka, for example, had teachers who coached somewhere else and vice versa, but I didn't know if the PSAL had certain rules about it. And America really has nothing to do with it if an organization has a certain set of rules. . .

One of my best friends dads was a teacher at one of the Half Hallow Hills but was on the LAX staff at Ward Melville for years.

I said normally not must. At least they was the case at my High school.

I would dig e same in his shoes. Ward Melville is a much better program with a legendary coach.

Depends on the school district. On LI, some districts have rules in place that first crack at a coaching job must go to someone in the district unless no one applies, then they can go outside.

I have a hard time believing that an assistant coach in the Big East voluntarily chose to go back to coaching HS basketball. I get that everyone is different, but there has to be more to this story.

Perhaps.

But I don't think it's hard to believe. On the high school level, Tiny was cream of the crop in the PSAL.

is it so hard to believe that when you just consider Seton Hall these days, Lincoln is better for the ego? :) Plus, where is Tiny going to go? Middle age assistant who got his job through a high recruit...not like he'll be a head coach in the ACC or something. And it is quite possible that he makes close to six figures as a NYC teacher with years of experience, overtime, and stipend as coach than he would at Seton Hall as a first year assistant.

Again, you can be right...but either way, it's not "unbelievable."

peace
