Post exactly what you require from Mullin this year to not cry for his firing next year after every loss.

I'll start: an NCAA tournament berth.

I want 24 wins from NCAA or NIT.

Marillac, for me an NCAA berth is success in year 4. Doesn't mean I'd call for his ouster if we just miss on the bubble, but I would say it's a miss if we do.

If no NCAA, then I'll wait to see if there are any shakeup. If he wants to keep the staff as is after no ncaa tourny this year, then yeah, Chris needs to go.

Marillac, be careful about puffing your chest out here...we just lost 4 of 5 and finally got back on the winning track after losing 2 straight. It was a great win, but we are still in a hole with lots of work to do. This game was just to keep us breathing and thankfully we got it. If we show we are consistent for once and start stringing wins together including vs. Duke then by all means puff it out.

That being said, it's pretty simple. Make the NCAA tournament. That's it. Anything short, I don't want to hear the excuses. We played great today, but how many times have we played great with a nice win and looked like crap the next game? We were kept alive by today's win but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Lots to do still.

So if we make the NCAA tournament you pledge not to call for Mullin's firing all of next year?

Also, I find it hysterical that you warn me about being too optimistic with games left on the schedule, but feel your nuclear meltdowns are completely warranted. My cautious optimism needs to be reined in but your unbridled pessimism is just fine.

Your negativity can't be solved with a simple "I'm happy to be wrong" in March. Why assume the worst? What's the point of sports then?

I'm probably ready for a change if we miss tournament, because next year will be more of the same and we'll never get the recruiting traction needed to sustain success. We have a lot of flaws, but the starters are too good to not make tournament.

We have no depth, so our margin of error is razor thin, but I think with a couple minor tweaks we can explode on teams. If those tweaks happen, even if they fail, I'd skip criticizing everything else until April.

The difference is that the pessimistic side has evidence and you're bragging while we just won after losing 4 out of 5 still being under .500. I want the team to win just as badly as you do, trust me. But now is no time to get cocky and it's way too early to say "I told you so". We got a great win on the road but now we play Duke and Marquette both away. We still don't know if this team can be consistent or even win games at home we are supposed to. If we make the tourney, I will not call for Mullin's head this year but I will still want a real assistant.

We do get too high one minute and too low the next. SJU won a road game & swept an opponent, so nice. That said they match up well with Creighton, being too quick and physical for them. That’s what make BE so much fun, every team brings something else to the mix re size, quickness, perimeter play & most importantly defense.

Monte and others have rued SJU lack of consistency and determination for a number of games. Can’t shoot lights out like last night too often, but you can bring attention to detail, passion and focus from opening bell. Reversing the 4 & 5 BE start would be great and position us well for potential “dancing” success. Seize the opportunity guys!

Three times so far. We won the SHU game and played well at Nova.

All I'm saying is let's be careful about getting too high after last night. It was much needed...I've always known we could play like that which is why it's so frustrating we dug ourselves into a hole and are still climbing out. After miserable years to start off the Mullin era and last year's 0-11 streak, winning 1 game after losing 4/5 is not going to quell everything, sorry. The team has lots of proving to do for us fans and for the rest of the country to see us as nationally relevant again. The odd thing is that we seem to turn our passion on and off game to game. We need to be playing with that intensity every game...if we did we'd be comfortably in 3rd probably 6-3 at least. Let's take one game at a time and really go after Duke and Marquette...even if we lose both I'll be satisfied if we play hard and keep it respectable. That would put us at 4-7 worst case, then on the homestand we need to beat PC and Butler. That would put us at 6-7 going into the Nova game with a chance to get another top 15 win and get back to .500 at 7-7. That would put us at 19-7 (7-7) and we'd be sitting much prettier.

Duke game is on ESPN so there will be a lot of eye balls on it. Just need to play our best. There is a lot of basketball to be played and hopefully a strong second half of conference play.

The Duke game is not a BE game and won’t result in a 4-7 BE Record , even if we lose at Marquette which I don’t think we will . And , if asked to choose between a win at Duke or Maquette ? I would answer, Both .

If I had to choose between the Duke or Marquette game, I'd want the Marquette game. It gives us a sweep against a top 10 team, plus improves our conference record. I'm more concerned about our BE record at this juncture.

For sure our Big East record is more important. A sweep of Marquette is certainly extremely valuable for us. That said, a win against Duke gives the tournament committee even more to think about due to the Duke mystique. Both are important at this juncture. Just keep winning...
