If that's you're standard, more power to you.

Yes, it's better then to watch then a team that doesn't care, but I want wins, lots of them, and soon, like next year!

NCAA Bubble next year, and consistent appearances starting in year 3, shouldn't be too much to ask for, and watching this team, I'm fearing that we are moving further away from that.[/quote]

Always exciting to meet medical miracles even if it's just online.

So what was the first thing you ate you woke up from your 28-year hibernation?

I think we may surprise a few teams this season before we put the basketballs away.

3 road games where we have won 1 conference game to date so it can't be those.

As for Creighton and Marquette I'm really high on Creighton so maybe its the Marquette game.

Unfortunately, I haven't been in hibernation. I've sat through all of this. That's what makes me mad. I've seen enough losing. Tired of it, and I'm tired of starting over every 4 years. It's time to get old, and stay old, like most of the teams in this league have done.

Last night just really got to me. Why? I don't know. Repressed rage from all the other losses, probably.

I knew this would probably be a rough year, but in 2016-17, Providence was picked 9th in the Big East, but went 20-13 (10-8), and danced, albeit first four.

When was the last time we had a year that defied expectations, even to that level? Brain Mahoney's first year? I was in fifth grade when that happened. Even the 99 team was expected to at least be good. Not as good as they turned out, but I think we were picked 4th or 5th in the league.

It would have been nice to have overachieved a little bit, in the results column.

Let's give CMA a little time in the job before bold predictions one way or another.

I hope the sentiment in the subject heading is true that "they better enjoy it now", but we will have to sit back and see what the future holds. I, for one, hope and pray and trust that sentiment holds true.

Why is it that the people who are most negative about a new coach (and we've had a few) always blame it on the last 20+ years as if the current guy is responsible for those failures or even responsible for the current roster configuration?
If this team is such a burden for you all that you can't objectively remove the current HC from the disasters inflicted on us by his numerous predecessors then perhaps you need to take a break. It's certainly not bringing anything to the table to simply complain that we aren't good enough to suit you at this point.

My criticism of Anderson is based on his past, if anything. He's done a nice job this year in many respects, but I'm starting to see a lot of the same issues Arkansas fans had with him (no defense other then pressure, bad in late game situations, bad halfcourt offense, no adjustments, etc.), and that's worrisome. Now, his record indicates that, with better talent, we will win more, but I don't think the ceiling is as high as others seem to think it is. I also think this is the floor, and that's not too bad, IMO. I just don't want them to be taking bows for an 8-12 league record next year, I want to do much better then that, 10-10 minimum is what I'm thinking right now, though we all have to see how the offseason plays out, before making definitive demands, IMO.

The 20 years thing has nothing to do with Anderson, it's just that it's the same message. Different coaches? Yes. Different administrators? Yes. But, this is about the 5th or 6th time in the last 20 years that I'm hearing, that it's the last time we're going to completely start over for a long while. When you hear it that often, and it doesn't come to fruition, it gets tough to believe in it for awhile, even if it's different, more qualified people sending the same message. Not the fault of the people currently in power, but at some point, we need results, not promises. Hopefully, Anderson and Co. are the ones to do that. I know that's contradictory, but I'm just being honest, that's all.

Repressed rage?? If the team is making you that miserable to follow, especially in a year when we were not expected to be any good, might be time to take a breather.

It seems to me that other schools have changed coaches like butler Marquette Georgetown come to mind and they seem to bounce back rather quickly. But we have been PATHETIC for around 20 years. This school has made one miss step after another. That is why I wanted them to go with the nuclear option and hire Pitino. He has the connections that would have gotten the players and the Garden would have been rocking and sold out and teams would have feared us. Instead we are the laughing stock of the BE if not all of college basketball

Thanks Big Red for initiating this post/topic.
It’s the bottom line: will Mike Anderson be the head coach who finally brings us up and over the hill - back to imo where we were - back to where we belong - back to where other Catholic , non football, small schools like Gonzaga and Villanova are.
My kids are tired of hearing their Dad say now St. John’s will
Be good because we hired......( Franschilla, Jarvis, Roberts, Lavin, Mullin etc.)
I think CMA “ just give him a little more time “and our ( Ws ) ( song ) will surely grow.

Losing gets so old, especially when we have late leads against the likes of G town, S Hall, Xavier!
I say yes to better seasons ahead.
I say Mike Anderson will be our successful HC.
All the best
SS&G suffering in Aruba lol

Nobody is arguing our past history or saying fans don't have a right to be negative or pessimistic as a result. We get it. After 20+ years of ineptness, they have every right to feel that it's never going to end and that any new coach is as bad as all his crappy predecessors.

What I'm saying is that most of us don't care to hear it. If some fans are fed up with the program to the point they can't separate that disdain from any evaluation the current staff then they need a break. Nobody's going to catch flack if they decide they can't support this program based on its last quarter century and their refusal to hire a specific candidate as HC. But whining about it constantly isn't going to win any converts to your side.

I like what I’m seeing from the guys coming in. Our guys who were unknowns are now finding their place. They’ll be a year better, and the guys we have aiming in are just straight killers. McGriff will be back ready to go. And we will have a couple more guys as wel as getting rid of some non big East caliber guys.

I feel we will close out games much better next year. And as far as late game execution etc, go look at MA’s games under 5 or whatever record. Arkansas fans always feel the need for justification when it came to how they handled Anderson. I can see the tide trying to turn though.
