The Slice Hypocrisy

My history with Redmen.com is a long one, old-timers will back this up. But it was all too much, The Maven-TominSalem war, Pittt-gate, the Keita Cash, the Hatten-Shaw weed fiasco, Norm's malaise, Curtis Johnson, etc. that and my Tour in Iraq and stint in prison all lead to me becoming a ghost. But I've always been here watching.

(I also had 4 kids in 5 years and a job, this habit is a time suck.)

Slice knows how to cheat. So, does Abdelmissah. That's where college basketball is, we have to deal with it. If we wanted a squeaky clean program we would have kept Roberts.

A lot of people on this board ought to be ashamed of yourselves right now. For years a huge number of you questioned his ethics. When barry rohrssen was at Pitt you hinted he was playing games. Once he got to Manhattan you claimed he was under-cutting especially in the recruitment of Rhemal Brown. And once he got to Kentucky you haven't stopped.
Now that we might be his next stop all of that has stopped and its "we need slice" "we need slice"

You can't have it both ways. Slice comes, great, but we all better be ready when he's caught up in the wake of the emplousion once they catch up with Calipari again.

Greetings Dear Dustyj
I admire you for putting yourself out there in more than one way...blessings bro!
But I think your term " huge" was a bit extreme.
I had these following thoughts last night but fell asleep - maybe if you find this post crappee you'd wish id have stayed asleep!

On the law people swear to tell the ( subjective) truth and are not swear for the (objective) facts. There is so much subjectivity and opinions in, well, life!
As far as ethics and Mike K went to West Point w/it's Spartan-like honor cafe, is friendly with Calipari and I doubt further he'd associate with him if all/most if the scandalous comments are true.

Furthermore we have a great new (and decent, moral) coach and I doubt Chris would bring any assistant on board likely to embarrass anyone, anytime.

I trust the judgment of Mike K and Chris M.

All the best
:)

I'm not sure the amount of posts you have on a site means anything when posting on an issue. I have never wanted to post for all the same reasons as DustyJ. And I go back to before Maven was proclaiming Lenny Cooke was signing by the end of January. The hiring of Chris Mullin has changed all that. I also remember some suggestions of shady things going on back then but nothing over the top.
DustyJ glad your back from your tour and hope all is going well now in your life. I walked in your shoes many years ago.
And on the Ewing topic with the Knicks. I was a fan since Richie Guerin days. When Ewing was drafted by the Knicks, that was the last day I gave a damn about them. I love no team more than St. Johns and could never rout for Patrick effing Ewing.

Jack Williams must be terrified that Dusty is about to release posts from 1999 when Jack was posting from his crib when he was 1 years old

I actually wanna see these threads to find out who this real fan is that everyone talks about

Hey, I know there are literally hundreds of posters, maybe a few thousand who don't post at all and always read. This is a great site, with tons of really good guys. Even guys I disagree with, I've found to be great guys in person. When I'm at the garden, and Paul would like to hear this, when I chat with someone in adjacent seats who are big fans, invariably I mention this site and not only read redmen.com 98% of the time but know all the main posters by screen name.

Sorry if my post called you out on anything. Have a great day.

Oh, yea, and thanks for your service in the military. Brave guys like you volunteer to keep us safe and preserve our freedom.

Curtis Johnson lol, talk about the glory days. I'll never forget reading a quote he had in one of the local papers talking about an unstoppable sky hook he was about to unleash. Man, the guy could barely run

Hi Jack
Good point
Which I will skew a bit, forgive me my trespasses...(I guess you can tell what religion I was raised in) :)
For "real fans" visit Brooklyn's own PCRichards
Otherwise, for ordinary fallible crusty rusty fans...well here we are, just us, from scattered backgrounds & riches & degrees or lack thereof...
As - I forget who - just posted, there are so many decent posters on board. I try to keep that in perspective and not focus on the few, the (self-smugged) proud, the mean s

Boy is this slice thing stirring up the pot!

You've already seen at least 15 of his other screen names.

First, I think he was kidding about Iraq and Jail. Second, I think the site reset post numbers 5-7 years ago so most of Dusty's posts wouldn't count. Third, Dusty (and I) have Redmen.com T shirts, do you? But seriously, Dusty actually organized the first Redmen.com west coast get together in the stands of Pauley Pavillion on January 11, 2003 when a mediocre St Johns team came in and we all passed by the FireLavin.com table to see them (read Marcus Hatten) trounce the Bruins. (that's when we got the t-shirts too) Damn, that's a long time ago.

We still have a chance to get one of the best recruiters in the country who, to the best of my knowledge, has never come under the scrutiny of the NCAA for any illegal recruiting tactics. Furthermore he's a local guy who, by all accounts, is extremely well respected and well liked, and who also happens be friends with Chris. Which its pretty much all I need to know about the guy to expect that he's a stand up guy.
Putting aside the rambles of some jealous opposing team's fans after losing out on some recruits, please tell me why this thread is even necessary?

Because we are St. John's and a little self reflection is healthy and we never want to be in another situation like Abraham Keira every again. I agree with you on Slice there is no taint to his record but their are massive taints to his boss and s$#! tends to roll down hill. And unlike those losers in Kentucky who have nothing else to live for but Wildcat hoops I have more going on and something I'd rather not lose again, my pride.

It is true and somewhere I have photographic evidence, January 11, 2003 and though I did serve it was in 1990-1's cake walk and I was joking about the prison gents!!!

I don't think anybody needs to be ashamed. We are all tired of losing. I know I've changed my tune. Programs, including ours, have been paying players for decades. I'm over it. Bring Barry home! Barry doesn't do anything the others don't.

Its like having a user like A Rod. If he is not on your team you hate him as a cheater. If he is on your team, and produces, you love him.
