I'm not sure he'd go in a 3 round draft this year at this point. No disrespect intended. For guys like Heron, teams want finished products. He came into the season needing to show that he can create, but he hasn't done that at all. He has become very predictable and those charges are unacceptable for NBA teams. The silly fouls too are a bad look. And his stats aren't great.

He needs another year. I think he could be a late first rounder if he fixes some flaws and shows he can be the man.

If Dixon was in over his head it was because of his lower than expected basketball IQ. Other than lacking a little in coordination and 10 lbs in weight, he was fine physically and was actually our quickest player.

Properly gauging what a player has between the ears and in the form of intangibles is one of those things that you can only do after you coach them or watching them playing with guys you know well. And it's tough after a freshman season because you expect all freshmen to be somewhat unprepared mentally.

You do tend to err on the side of transfer (Harrison to Baylor for example. I think most of the board understood that the loser of Dixon/Trimble was a lock to transfer. It doesn't take a psychic to know that there is a good chance the losers of other positional competitions will leave at the end of the season as well. That is the nature of college basketball in 2019, and I think we are all fine with those types of guys transferring.

Dixon was awful.
Harrison thing was mostly tongue in cheek.Baylor crooked, kind of sort of agreed with some form of Fun's Lavin conspiracy theory in suspending Harrison. Funny Jordan never got suspended while Lavin was coaching for his job.
If I was Harrison I would have transferred. Just like if I were Kyle McAlarney I would have transferred from ND.

I think our fans gave up on Dixon too soon.
I think Dixon gave up on St. John's before staff had given up on him.
Kids jump at the first opportunity. I don't blame them, but rather than stay and fight for playing time by their performance and hard work, they bail out.

Wish Dixon the best. Have to wonder if he was recruited as a safety valve in case Ponds left after his sophomore year which staff clearly knew was a distinct possibility. In any event, GC should be an excellent fit for him.
 
I think Dixon resented getting pulled so early in the SH game . True , he struggled on D and was smaller than anyone of us expected but, he was quick and could shoot . You can always accommodate a shooter , even with bad D . As much as his decision was on his PT this year, I think possibly he also looked at next year , with Wright and Mack coming in , plus Williams and thought WTF . So, I am not one who thinks his leaving was a good thing . He had more of a offensive game than Trimble but, don’t take that as a shot at Him . He does other things that Mikey didn’t . Oh well. He’s gone .
