The Season in Review

Not sure what to think of next year, If Moe goes then we are back to 6 scholarship players.

Outside of Jamal Branch what new player will be on next year's roster?

Who is signed?

No offense to you, but why do these same things continue to be repeated and asked.

C'mon.... We're not gonna go into next season with 6 scholarship players. I, seriously doubt that happens again. No one is currently signed other than Branch, but I'm positive others will be signed between April and May.

There are so many positives from these 6 guys as the season progressed. All except Gift steadily improved there game through the season. And even Gift showed flashes at times being undersized at Center. The one thing that was amazing to me was the discipline they showed playing with 6 guys. I can only remember only a handful of games after Stith and Lindsey left that someone fouled out. And they still played an aggressive style of defense. These guys showed the maturity of Juniors and Seniors in that regard and Kudos to them and Dunlap for making it work with only the 6 guys. Regardless of who comes in, I think you will see a improved group next year. They learned a lot this year and that experience will be invaluable.

+1....damn, is it already may 16th?? did i miss something??

MJ Dinkins,

I hope so but by know we usually have some verbals in the wings. Also I hope we do not get burned again with academic issues.

It's wait and see hopefully by October 1, we have a 10-11 scholarship players on the roster that can compete in the Big East.

At this point I think the main reason everyone keys in is to hear good news about the program. It's been a long time since we've had any and the same things will be repeated until we do. The main attraction to college hoops vs the pros is the anticipation and hope for new blood each year that will change things for the better. The offset to that for us is the fear of losing some of what we've got. I don't know how anyone can be positive about anything with the information that we have. Even under Norm we heard recruiting rumors and could speculate about the upside of the kids on the roster. What we have now if Moe leaves is a shell of a team with pretty well known potential. In effect we're starting all over totally reliant on the performance of our sick coach. It's real hard to be upbeat under the circumstances until the good news starts to come in. I can't recall it ever being this quiet after all the recruiting that's gone on. I refuse to resort to Twitters for recruiting news and the "stellar recruiting class" statements from Steve just don't cut it enough to change the tone on the website. It's tough to type with your fingers crossed. In this sport both good and bad news travel fast but I don't know what to say about no news.

What are you talking about?! First of all, if there was news to report then myself and others who are occasionally privy to info would've posted it. So, why continue to repeat and ask the same things on a daily basis? Do you believe things are gonna change by it being often regurgitated?

It's your prerogative, if you don't feel positive going forward. It's not up to others to change your mind.

Even under Norm we heard recruiting rumors and could speculate about the upside of the kids on the roster.

LOL Are you kidding me? Nevermind....

What we have now if Moe leaves is a shell of a team with pretty well known potential.

We'll never know.... Time will tell. It also depends on who or what we bring in.

In effect we're starting all over totally reliant on the performance of our sick coach.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt, but there is something that doesn't quite sit right with your last words. I don't know.... It could be a subtle dig being that it is coming from you. I'll just pass on this one.

It's real hard to be upbeat under the circumstances until the good news starts to come in.

Once again, it's your prerogative.

I can't recall it ever being this quiet after all the recruiting that's gone on.

LOL You're so full of 'ish that it is actually funny.

I refuse to resort to Twitters for recruiting news and the "stellar recruiting class" statements from Steve just don't cut it enough to change the tone on the website.

Do you know what was exactly said, in reference to the "stellar recruiting class" statement? He said (paraphrase), "They are close to signing a stellar class."

It's tough to type with your fingers crossed. In this sport both good and bad news travel fast but I don't know what to say about no news.

I thought you were gonna keep mum until after the late signing period. Do yourself (and the board) a favor and don't type until after the late period. The person who said they don't talk about things they know nothing about seems to do the exact opposite.

"Congratulations to the young St. John's Redmen. The team showed alot of poise and fight in spite of the seasons' difficulties. There have been alot of great men who have had the privilidge to wear the Uniform that have come before these young guys. I think you have earned their nod of respect. From Buck Freeman to Joe Lapchick to Lou Carnesecca, these great men have built, with great humility and ...service, a very proud institution and have made an unprecedented contribution to the game of Basketball and those of us who have been blessed to have been touched and taught by them are eternally grateful. Ultimately, they made us Men. I hope the young Redmen take the lessons from these Men and if so, win or lose, will be successful in whatever they do....Good Luck next year. "

Some of you were spoiled last season. Every year can and generally will be different than others. I'm just one who'll wait until the late signing period has come and gone to analyze the situation (whether, it's good or bad).

We were burnt last season on academic issues due to the mass scholarship situation, and Lavin attempting to make a huge splash. I've said this before and will say it again.... We weren't the only major school who vigorously recruited AND offered Garrett, Sampson and Pelle. It was unfortunate, but it happens. I doubt that would've happened, in such abundance, if we didn't have so many scholarships to give out.

I'm more than confident that we'll have sufficient depth on the roster next season.

I've probably been supporting this program longer than you've been breathing. Right now you don't have any more reason to post than I do. So why do you? Just to complain that people keep repeating the real doubts they have? What gives you the right to do that? How about you wait until you have something to say rather than knocking what others do and contributing to the problem?

What does that have to do with the price of cheese?

Right now you don't have any more reason to post than I do. So why do you?

Because I generally have something worthy of discussion than yourself.

Just to complain that people keep repeating the real doubts they have?

What's the use of continuing to complain about depth and recruiting when the late signing period doesn't start 'til April and doesn't end 'til May? So, Lavin wanted to go into the season only using 7 players, huh? Yeah.... Right!

If things haven't been addressed once May 16th rolls around, then everyone has a right to doubt the staff and their direction. Otherwise, an even-keeled person would give them the benefit of the doubt.

How about you wait until you have something to say rather than knocking what others do and contributing to the problem?

Most posters are still awaiting for you to say something unneurotic. I guess you know you're a problem by that denouncement, huh?
