The Season in Review

I'll start with Lindsey's departure.
About what I expected.
Extremely fortunate from an injury standpoint and foul perspective.
Can you imagine if either of H or H had gone down?
Major needs are obviously PG and size.
Sounds like Branch takes care of the PG position and will improve our outside shooting ability.
Too bad Garrett has to play baseball this summer as it would have been interesting to see how much he'd improve spending the summer on campus.
Hopefully Gift, Grrene and Pointer improve after their summer on campus.
Gift better improve or Harkless spends another year at the 5.
He's a hard worker so I'm optimistic.
Pointer needs to work on his handle and Greene will be a very capable 3rd guard off the bench.

 Bottom line business folks.

Losing season
Kids not qualifying
More transfers
Coach sick and not coaching
Momentum lost

It was what it was.

Not acceptable. If anyone is pleased with the outcome you have no passion to win, and be the best. Effort was nice but they lost... Period...

ignorant.. if you can't see a silver lining than thats too bad for you..I enjoyed this season because I wasn't expecting much after 3 didn't qualify and coach was sick. What did you expect a team of six to accomplish?? They did better than 4 other teams in the conference who had full rosters which included upperclassmen... I guess pessimistic people will always look at the bad...Geez I wonder how you would handle being a DePaul fan.. Give the kids and program a break...They performed above and beyond in my opinion and I'm proud of what they did this season

Very tough season. Even though it was fun watching these guys grow on the court, there just wasn't too many high points for us to celebrate as fans. A win against ND? Yes, we saw some of these guys develop an watched Moe earn ROY, but you can't say it wasn't a rough season as a fan.

The bottom line is when you walk away from losses and feel good about "the effort" and you're trying to look on the bright side, your season just wasn't very good.

I so hope everyone stays, we get a few more good guys in here, and Coach Lavin gets back to coaching. If all those things don't happen, we will be right back where we are right now a year from today.

Let's now look forward to the 2012-13 season. I have a feeling things will be way better next season.

We need shooters. You can't win when you have only 1 player who can hit a 3.
We have enough athletes - we need at least 2 guys who can shoot 40% from downtown

How many guys in the entire country shoot 40% from downtown?
Ray Allen doesn't count.

I am more optimistic than I've EVER been about the program.

In the past (before the last 10 years), we were a good program that expected to make the NCAA tournament almost every year---with the hope of winning a few games and making a deep run.

Now, I expect us to become an ELITE program with top recruiting classes and runs at the National Championship.

The best is yet to come!

Among qualified leaders, there were 100 players who shot 186 threes so far this season, 28 shot 40 percent or better. Only 7 were in a major conference.

Actually, you need a couple of kids who can shoot 30- 35% or so. Not just 1 kid.. It's a team percentage that is important .. And, while we're at it, how about a couple of kids who can shoot FT'S at 65-70% or better, consistently.

3 point shooting is part of the game today.. You have to make it part of your offense.

Four of the six made at least 66 percent of their free throws. Garrett was seven makes short of that.

Tough, tough, year. It seems like virtually anything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong. The season seems so short when you lose on your home floor on the opening couple of hours of the BET. It's also hard to believe we will not have a SJU hoops game for over 8 months. That is a long time to think about this season, or look towards next.

No reason to go into details of what went wrong this year. Anyone who goes in this site knows only too well what went on and more importantly, what didn't.

On a parting note...a big thanks should go out to Dunlap, Hines and the ENTIRE coaching staff. Thank you for giving it 100% every night and I assume every practice, providing us a with a few nice moments along the way, and most importantly, doing the best you could with these 6-10 kids under some of the most bizarre circumstances in recent hoops history.

Better days are ahead. Think, at worst, we play 2 games in the NCAA's next season, assuming Mo returns. Very excited about next season. Can't get here soon enough.

At worst? I think you might have things reversed... a Sweet 16 appearance is probably about as much as we can ask for, and that's 3 games. And a lot would need to go right for that to happen.

Worst case, it's my opinion that we play in 2 NCAA games (win the first, lose the second) next season, if Mo returns.

Best case is getting to the Sweet 16 (win 2 NCAA games, and from there who knows). Don't understand your post.

Even my worst case is not all that bad.

in all the years i followed this team...and there are too many to admit to...this season was about the worst. the pitt scandal team was worse...then the norm years because there was no hope with him around. that was easier because we could always use him as a whipping boy when we needed to vent. this year, at least we finished 12th in the big east which, in the day would have made us eligible for the BET. norm couldn't do that.

the free-fall began in last year's post season when kennedy got hurt. i thought we had a good ncaa run in us.
then polee leaving. he'd be contemplating going to the nba right now..instead he'll be jerking around as a newcomer at another school.
you all know the rest...ailing coach...ineligible players...loi's thrown in the garbage...players dropping out. missing out on highly touted recruits...losing games to the northeasterns of the world. inconsistant play which was to be expected with five frosh and only one other player.. the danger our best player may take a flyer at the nba....ticket scandal the acc stealing our teams in order to replace the big east as the number one basketball conference. this was a tough year.

the good news...i just bought my auto insurance from geico.

we have a dream team of coaches. we still have nyc, the garden, the big east. i'm hoping that big storm that's coming from the sun will somehow change our fortunes.

Are you serious about it?

Polee was the player who less improved from the beginning of past season.

Polee: good springs=plus (quick jumper, good elevation on shot)
glides to the hoop=plus
can't shoot=negative
can't handle the ball=negative (especially left hand)
horrible defender=negative

I see the glass as half full not half empty. What can you say about Moe and D Lo that haven't already been said. They exceeded my expectations. Gift had his moments and Greene showed he can be a valuable player on this team. Amir improved tremendously after a late start. Dom showed to be a glue type of player who adds the intangibles. I expect him to be much better next year as will all the others. I don't know how Moe and D Lo can improve there numbers when they won't have to spend as many minutes on the floor withl help on the way as Coach Lav has advised. All in all I was happy with the effort and see good upside. I too can't wait for next season.

Not sure what to think of next year, If Moe goes then we are back to 6 scholarship players.

Outside of Jamal Branch what new player will be on next year's roster?

Who is signed?
