The new Jeter Documentary

I'm a Yankees fan, and I have no intention of watching any of this.

Remember, Jeter is a producer on this, essentially making it a love letter to himself.

I'm passing on principle.

Did you watch Rocketman?
Yes, and I loved it. I know Elton was involved in that, but he didn't hold anything back. It wasn't a self-valentine (it was a brotherly love letter to Bernie Taupin, if anything), so I had no problem with it. I actually liked it more than Bohemian Rhapsody, TBH.

What exactly would you like Jeter doc to show? Tough to make commentary on it without watching it as well

The last Dance you could say the same thing but I still liked it. I totally get that this will be a Jeter puff piece but there are still things I already liked in the first episode like his time in the minors

Will it even touch on Jeter's unwillingness to move off SS, even when the Yankees acquired the defensively superior Alex Rodriguez? His unwillingness to back Joe Girardi when Jorge Posada walked out of a game, after being moved down to ninth in the lineup? His unwillingness to move out of the 2 spot in the lineup during his last year, when he was probably the worst everyday player in baseball?

Compare and contrast that last one with Don Mattingly, who went up to Buck Showalter and said (paraphrasing here), "I'm hurting the team in the three spot. We have better options. Time to move me down.". THAT'S a captain, and a leader, right there, IMO.

Only one way to find out.

Also the worst everyday player in baseball is a pretty big exaggeration. Batting 256 with a hit per game at the age of 40 isn’t as dramatic as you’re making it out to be. Should he have hit 2. No.

Just find it really ironic that a die hard Yankee fan like you are won’t even watch a show about one of the two greatest Yankees of your generation because you want it to go into salty areas. It already has touched on his bad times in the minors and Arod and him not being as chummy as people thought.

Jeter was a great, great player. Clutch in the mold of Munson and Mattingly. Other opinions are pure BS.

Again, if a documentary were released like this word for word, but produced completely from the outside, I'd watch. That's just how I feel about it.

Jeter did a lot of things, especially from 2010 on (when he thought the Yankees low-balled him in free agency, when the truth was nobody else wanted him, so the offer was more than fair, IMO) that turned me off, the Girardi/Posada thing being the top one.

I'm too young to have seen Reggie play, but I probably wouldn't really want to watch a documentary about him, produced by him, either. Talk about self-serving. Joe D. was the same way. Just something about it I don't like.

Does not take away from their on-field accomplishments, but I don't have to worship it.

But to be fair of it was Jeternan the musical you might give it a watch

Great player is correct. Still only my 6th favorite Yankee on those 90's teams.
How did we never talk about this. Even though a met fan during that time the early years even I rooted for them I’m curious your favs before because it’s probably close to mine starting with Mariano
