The Basketball Tournament

Watched the last 6 minutes of the game while doing my physical therapy. Got a couple of the clinic assistant's into the game and giving me updates when I couldn't see it. Watched that block from the exercise bike and it was a great play, goaltending or not. So who did get the MVP if not DJ? I know Kyle Fogg was tremendous in the semis so I assume it was him.

Overseas Elite won by 5. DJ with the big basket with about a minute to go. Congrats to him and Paris on their share of $2 million. They took home part of a $1 million pot last year.

That basket was the play of the game as he made a circus shot with maybe two seconds on the shot clock. No doubt he wanted the ball at crunch time and his team deferred to him. He shoulda gotten MVP.

He didnt get the mvp?

Fogg got it, when it was announced after the game and the team was gathered at midcourt there were a few murmurs from the team. ;)

The rules were a hybrid of what you see here and internationally. For instance, they used the international rule where you can take the ball off of the rim or "goaltend" a shot going into the basket. Therefore, DJ's block was perfectly legal.

Reminded me of an NBA game where a team is down by a lot early and winds up winning. They also pulled the same feat in the semis on Saturday.

I saw the breakdown of the winnings on Sportscenter but can't find it in print. Boosters and fans share in the pot to.

Fran said it was a goaltend and I agree. i believe DJ got about $174K as did Paris.

Fran's been wrong once or twice. :) Actually I must correct myself as if the ball touches the rim, it can be grabbed but if over the basket and on the way down it is goal tending in international rules (FIBA). Looking at the replay again (I actually did not see this play when it occurred during the game as I was out of the room for a few minutes), you and Fran appear to be correct.
