You all showed a lot of class and guts playing a true road game at USF. It is harder and harder for a program like USF to get these types of games. For that I have a real respect for your program.

As for the other thread where there were mid-major labels being thrown around and one poster thought Gonzaga was the only real basketball program in the WCC, just a note, USF has defeated Gonzaga three years in a row in San Francisco.

Good luck the rest of the season.

good Luck to you guys. Cody Doolin is the best point guard I've seen this season.

Ray McCallum
Isaiah Canaan
Pierre Jackson

Did they absolutely torch us like CD did?

We played Zone against all 3 and man-to-man against Doolin.

Did Doolin exhibit to you that he could shoot outside of a Zone? Even once did he take an outside shot?

Do you know what kind of statline Pierre Jackson would've had against us if we played man-to-man seeing how he just came off I believe a 31 point game the day before?

This team failed to make an adjustment.

Let's not confuse Doolin for something he's not when his career high was 8 assists.

We gave him 14 assists and 2 turnovers on a silver platter because 1- we did not respect him and 2- we did not adjust.

I thought we respected Doolin too much by not allowing him to shoot from the outside. I see you're stating by overplaying him on defense could be used as a form of disrespect to Doolin's game.

Basically, we're saying the same thing.

Doolin beat us using only his right hand....what did he go to his left hand twice all night?

Yes.

Canaan and Jackson couldn't break our Zone until late in the game. McCallum shot 8-23, mostly from outside.

If any of those players got a one-on-one matchup, we would've been toast.

Dom fouled out last night. Dom's not picking up 5 fouls playing in a Zone.

Looked obvious to me what happened last night. 14 assists. Pretty sure 3/4 of them were off of dribble penetration.

Pretty sure Salty Dog is not an NBA scout, so he wasn't looking at them from that perspective. Like Logen said, he played better than the other guys. Will he get drafted? Absolutely not. Did he whip our ass? Absolutely.

We didn't GIVE him anything. Pointer was playing his behind off and the kid abused him. Lack of respect for opponents on ths board is amazing. I agree about trying to play off him but the kid took the ball wherever he wanted to go which is what a good point guard does.

Good luck, but you are still a mid major. We beat Duke twice, Pitt while they were in the top 10, a Cincy sweet 16 team, etc. in the past years. I never said Gonzaga was the only real program. I said they are lightyears ahead of the 2nd place WCC team. No other team in your conference can go deep into the tourney and you will be lucky to get 2 bids out of there. If you want to be a major team, join a major conference and face Cuse, Pitt, L'Ville, Cincy, G'Town, Nova, etc. instead of Santa Clara, Pepperdine, Loyola, Portland, SD, etc. It's a huge jump from having 3 good teams to face in your conference in the WCC as opposed to facing a good or great team every game in the Big East. Would like to see you guys take the cross country trip in our house. Good luck.

By the way not making excuses at all but it's important to note that we were playing without 1 player who scouts say can play for an NBA team now and played for a national team, and 1 player who will be our starting PG. I'd like to replay this game at full strength.

LOL. That's not going to happen. You need to become your own editor and know what to read and what to ignore. Joe3 starts talking about other teams, especially mid majors . . . ignore.

Hey, I know this team that beat Gonzaga a few times. They are clearly a national title contender! Save me from your delusions of grandeur for SF...this is a team that will fall back in the WCC as Gonzaga and St. Mary's continue to own it and represent the only true threats of the conference on a national scale. Man, all this respect for a team whose biggest accomplishment in the last 40 years was "hey we beat Gonzaga a few times". I wonder what you guys would say if we beat Gonzaga a few times. Surely we wouldn't get half the credit as you give SF for doing the same thing. I might be a cold splash of reality for some posters who revel in bending over for opponents in an attempt to seem like Ghandi, but SF is not headed anywhere significant on a national scale. We are supposed to be. Let's get our crap together and move on.

Once again, you simply don't get it. Being called a "mid-major" isn't an insult to SF fans... that's what their team is, it's a fact. You don't get bragging rights for being in a larger conference - especially when half the teams you named which we have to face are actually leaving our conference.

USF is a good team, not a great team (no one ever said they were). And their fans would acknowledge that.
Actually, Ken came on here and somehow had enough restraint NOT to rub it in your face that the team you disparaged so thoroughly just beat the cr&% out of us.

Today is not the day to come on the board and bash USF or their conference. We're the big conference school with the high profile recruits and the well paid coaching staff... and they kicked our asses.
It doesn't matter if you think we would win 3 out of 4... we played, and they won. Give it a rest Joe.

I agree with your last two words: move on. You are coming off as a major sore loser. They beat our asses pretty badly, yet you just keep trashing their conference. That horse is completely beaten and dead.

The only reason I brought up conference affiliation again is because some posters said "Some mid major huh?" implying they weren't a mid major even though they are. They beat us, but I think this game was an exception and not the rule if we played 100 games. Get Sanchez and Branch in here and have them fly cross country and I think that score is reversed.

It is not important at all to note what you note and it is nothing but excuse making. You make an excellent argument for censorship almost every time you post.
