Thank You and Good Luck Sim

Seems like a great kid but his real value seems to be as a spark scorer and nice mid range shooter.. hasn't shown the ability to be the lead guard on a top offense yet (or be consistent from 3). He was getting better at getting to the rim but don't have confidence in his ball handling and ball security at all sadly. Would like him to stay but it makes sense unfortunately if he wants to be a guaranteed starter

Perhaps a silly question (that could be put under one of a number of threads): why does a player entering the portal almost definitely mean they are transferring? Is it merely because doing so may burn bridges with his existing school, or is it something more than that? If I were a talented 6' 3" sophomore (as opposed to a 5' 5" tired 53 year old), other than loyalty (which idealistically should be a consideration), why wouldn't I test the waters to see where I could find the optimal deal for myself and family? Thanks.

Would this only be the case if Jackson commits? I see no issue why they both cannot be big contributors here next year (if Ian even commits here). Learning from a Hall of Fame coach will help them reach their potential. Kadary did not put in the work to reach his but it was not due to lack of effort from Rick.
Sanon, Sellers and Jackson all pretty much play his position. To be honest, I'm surprised this hasn't surfaced sooner. With all the lineup constructions people have been throwing out I've been asking myself "why would Sim stay to play 20-25 minutes a game with no guarantee he's going to start, when he could go somewhere else and be the man (or at least A man)?" I guess we'll have our answer soon enough.

The troll aside last night, there is some chatter about Sim status, but we’ll see.

Portal bound I sense
That would suck! Sim in his third year under Pitino would presumably be better than a five star freshman PG who will probably be here for oe year only.

The portal is a good thing in that we've become players for guys who would never have considered us not so long ago.

It's a bad thing in that we'll never see favorite players like Brady, Maker, Glover, etc., develop into future stars...at least not here.

Another thing. In the Big East tournament, Ayo played an important role at the guard/small forward positions and CRP seemed to like his steadiness over Sim in big moments (when outcome of games were in the balance). Some I realize out of necessity due to foul trouble.

I could definitely see Ayo eating into some of Sim's minutes too next year if his maturity on court were not to take a big leap forward.

No guarantee any of those guys develop into “stars” while portal allows you to get ready made “stars”.

it sucks but its the reality of the new system. Would be interesting if any of them pop at their next stops if they would consider transferring back here for bigger roles in 2026-2027

And they have the same amount of years left assuming ayo gets first year here back which he should.

I really like Ayo. I can see him taking a step forward the next 2 years. We saw flashes this year (DePaul game start)
I don’t think he will play guard, but he can defend both guard spots and he should be able to provide some point-forward ability as an upperclassmen. Ideally you want two to three guards in there with him. Steady kid, so he can take the ball up against most 3’s and all 4’s.

I mean, I don't even know why we bother recruiting players. Ayo should just play all five positions. What's the difference between him and Cooper Flagg, anyway?

By all accounts a great kid, useful guy to have off the bench, but I have never seen a basketball player be as great a beneficiary of "backup QB syndrome" as Ayo. Jeez.

No, sometimes they do it to retain options or for leverage in NIL or playing time.

In the same respect I've never seen a more overrated player that Sim
