I have learned to take a proactive style to my health - I decided to share my experiences and hope this post makes it through - I had to photo copy and attach what I tried to post. It is basketball related because if we don't live we don't enjoy the sport and team we love ❤️

Always love your positivity and warm posts on here. Realize that we should enjoy things in life like basketball because it obviusly all gives us joy outside our hectic lives. I pray that you have a speedy and full recovery.

First off thank you for sharing general and best of luck in what will hopefully be a very brief and painless battle. Your constant positive posts are a welcome sight on Redmen.com and are appreciated by many.
unfortunately, far too many of us do not give our health the proper attention it deserves and rely on modern medicine to cure us once we come down with an ailment. We would all be much better off in watching our diet from a young age, drinking a ton of water , surrounding ourselves with positive influences ( like yourself ) and constantly engaging in moderate exercise.
looking forward to reading about your beating back this challenge and your many positive posts in the years to come as CMA and our beloved Redmen rise up in the BE and the national standings.

Speedy  Recovery SSG

Dear SS&G,

You've long been one of my favorite posters, a source of unbounding optimism and enthusiasm for our beloved Johnnies. Very sage advice you have offered us all. Wishing you a very speedy recovery; my older brother had a similar challenge with prostate cancer about 7 or 8 years ago and got through it pretty quickly.

All my best wishes to you and yours.

Anyone who is told that they have prostate cancer should check out Proton Therapy which is offered at 30+/- of the best hospitals around the country.

The reason it is not offered at more hospitals related to cost.  My Syracuse MD called it "experimental" but it worked 100% for me.

Proton is not experimental as evidenced by the fact that many of the best facilities in the country offer it:  MD Anderson, Mayo Clinic, Emory University, Mass General, Cleveland Clinic, UPenn, and others..

I attended University of Florida (as a non resident) and could not have been more pleased.  No side effects.  Cured.

Below is a 4 minute video explaining what proton beam therapy is.  Also below is a map of where the proton beam centers are located in the United Stated.

I concur, on Jan 24 I had an aortic aneurysm and rupture. I had to get emergency open heart surgery. According to my surgeon at Westchester medical center, I beat 85% fatality rate. Everything needed to line up just right and it all did. I had no clogged arteries and a strong heart. Not waiting after feeling initial symptoms, actions of my co workers and location to hospital. I'm back walking a mile n a half a day, eating well and rest. I had no prior symptoms.  I'm loving my 2nd chance at life. Don't get too upset at loses anymore still ecstatic on wins. We are a family thru thick n thin. Stay healthy fellow Johnnies

SS & G, thank you for that reminder about our health. Your positive posts show what a positive person you are and that you will beat this. You’ll be 8n my thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery. We all need to be around to watch our beloved Johnnies win their first National Championship!

SS&G, Get well, stay well.  When there is a final four in Atlanta and the Redmen are in it, I know who I want leading the march of St. John's fans.

the response to what I shared about health has been warm and heartfelt AND helps me realize Redmen.com is part of me and a valuable support system!
thanks for all the goodwill
and yep
let's  keep college basketball in perspective while we root like he'll for the Storm!

Best wishes to you, and very important post! I'm younger but felt guilty about delaying my annual visits (due to COVID) and started experiencing a few symptoms of something I thought was more serious. Went to my appointments and fortunately it was nothing, but I do feel better that I went. Can't skip your annuals, the offices are safe to go to.

SSG: I've already taken the liberty of planning a watch party at your Sag Harbor home, so you'll need to make a speedy recovery in order to keep 100 rowdy Redmen.com-ers from destroying your furniture.

General - best wishes on a quick recovery. You are a great poster and board member. I appreciate the post.
