If he was a decent guy, Boeheim would gracefully bow out now
I would think he doesn't need the money
With the NCAA vacating so many wins, he'll never hit 1,000 in 3 years anyway
It also has to hurt future recruiting if HS kids know that he won't be there in 3 years

Wow. I'm so glad to see him retiring...wish it was sooner than three years. It's actually seems like a decent thing he's doing, allowing enough time for the program to get over this black eye an build it up for his successor.
Then again, knowing what a creep Boeheim is, he probably was more motivated by getting #900 back and retiring with enough time gone by to get a victory lap and leave with a cleaner name than if he retired now or after next year.
I am in the camp of rooting for Syracuse to appeal this decision. Keep this story hanging around for every recruit to see. Keep the story hot and the NCAA on alert. Does anyone really think that program will suddenly eschew cheating? Keep the story going, don't back down. It may even expedite Boeheim's retirement.
For the first (and last) time I can say: "Let's go Orange!"
